Today I noticed a Marauder in the parking lot and upon closer inspection it had a spotlight and a police interceptor badge on the back of the vehicle. I took a quick picture but it was from my phone while I was inside my car so the badge is too scrambled to see but it said police interceptor. Check out the picture in the link below. Have any of you ran into one of these? Are there any special modifications or is it just a police badged marauder with a spotlight?

Not a Indiana police car, all their tags expire in March. Not April.

Dennis Reinhart specially outfitted 30 Marauders for the FHP...whether this was one of those cars, who knows. I don't think he put Police Interceptor badges on them, but either way the car didn't leave the factory like that.

There were a few Marauders that were either under cover cars or actual police vehicles. That would account for the spot light.

Probably was bought at auction and whomever got it added he interceptor badge.

Unless individual departments paid to have the cars retrofitted no Marauders left STAP as official police vehicles. Ford decided to FU the police in regards to the Marauder because so many depts were suing Ford over the exploding gas tanks in the CV. I can't see a spotlight in your pic, but if it's there this is a P71 conversion.

For those of you that don't know......

Florida Highway Patrol Taps Reinhart Automotive for High Performance Modifications to Stealth Fleet
ORANGE PARK, FLORIDA, (NAMC) – Dennis Reinhart, Reinhart Automotive, Orange Park, Florida (www.reinhartautomotive.com), recently completed dramatic modifications on 27 new 2004 Mercury Marauders for the Florida Highway Patrol, transforming the family cars into high-performance, unmarked pursuit vehicles – muscle cars capable of sustaining speeds up to 150 mph. The FHP’s new fleet of stealth vehicles is the agency’s highest profile enforcement tool to deter and apprehend aggressive drivers (www.fhp.state.fl.us).

Reinhart’s 20-year reputation for custom, high-performance work among automotive dealers in the Ft. Lauderdale area caught the attention of the FHP in late 2004 when it was looking to empower its aggressive driving program with covert pursuit vehicles capable of maintaining the top speeds of aggressive highway drivers and their supercharged cars.

Reinhart’s modifications include: upper engine cooling, upgrades to front brake rotors and installation of KVR carbon fiber brake pads on all four wheels to increase brake stopping abilities and prevent pedal fade; SCT Super Chips Custom Tuning to remove the top speed limiter and allow additional horsepower; installation of Dynotech Composite Metal Matrix Drive Shafts with special lubrication, spun balanced to more than 6000 rpm, to allow sustained speeds of 150 mph without vibration; installation of ADDCO rear sway bars to enhance high speed stability and limit body roll; and replacement of stock oil pressure gauges with completely functional Auto-Meter Gauges, which read from 0 to 80 pounds, and alert drivers to premature oil failure.

The fleet took to the Florida highways in January 2005 also equipped with tinted windows, digital radars, covert lighting packages and state-of-the-art audio/video recording systems. Each FHP officer assigned to a Marauder, now sporting 270+ rear-wheel horsepower (a 20+ percent increase from stock horsepower), was hand-picked to drive the vehicle, and completed a 3-day training class at the FHP training facility in Tallahassee.

“This has been a terrific experience for me,” said Reinhart, who’s been customizing muscle cars for more than 20 years, and is now the FHP’s single source for custom modifications. “I’ve never met a finer group of dedicated men and women than the Florida Highway Patrol, and I’m proud to be a part of Florida’s highway safety program.” Dennis Reinhart is available for interviews; photos of the FHP and its Mercury Marauders are available.

FYI.... I am in no way, shape pr form connected with Dennis Reinhart. Just posted this information for newbees.......

:hmmm:

I wonder how many of those Reinhart tuned FHP Marauders blew up their engines?
....because they ran the fuel tank too low while running WOT.....

After Hurricane Katrina we were waived thru check point after check point.

We could not figure out why.

Eventually some one told us the local sheriff drove a Marauder.

Do you happen to know why it was outfitted like a police cruiser and if it has any modifications done to it?

My younger brother lives north of Atlanta.
One year while visiting him, he took me by the local sherrifs dept to show me the fleet in the parking lot, marauders, impala ss', and Camaro Z28s.
All the vehicles were the next model up from the base police package cars. Not sure where this Sherrie had the conversions done, but almost all had a pillar spotlights, and blue lights in the grills and back windows, none had lights on the roofs.

For the record, Georgia state police had a couple of DPB under-covers. I saw them on the sides of the highways with folks pulled over while I used to travel back and forth from central Florida to Columbia SC. I used to be able to fly on I-95 and get waved at while breaking the speed limits in my DPB.

Because GA state has a similar blue color, I'm not sure if they were actually DPB or painted BLK ones. I never really wanted to get that close to find out.

Let's hope for the latter, I would hate to see a real DBP getting trashed in police duty such as this one:

You can tell it's a real Marauder by the tail pipes. I have yet to see a clone where they spent the coin to get real MM pipes.
I had the badge on my car for a while. I liked it until I didn't anymore. :burnout:
