Hello, I have a 2008 Crown Victoria P-71 (yeah, go ahead and laugh) with 78k on it. Been doing some searching on the CV forums and a couple guy suggested i look on here. My question is, if the opinion that the forced lube mod is a waste of time/money, what all do i need to fix the leaking tail shaft housing, CORRECTLY? At 78k, mine is just starting to leak, not even enough to drip, I can just see a wet ring on the floor from the driveshaft slinging it. From what i know, i will need the extension housing gasket to bolt it back onto trans, the bushing, and the rear seal. Anything else to look for/replace when I have it that far apart is what I want to know. I was just looking into the lubrication mod because it is leaking already at 78k.
Thanks
Colby

Probably just need the seal.
See if the driveshaft seems loose in the tail shaft. If it is then you need to replace the bushing. If not just the seal.

Ok, thanks. I will check for play in the tail shaft. I will probably just get a bushing, seal, and gasket from our dealer. I'll just put those in and be done with it. Just trying to take care of all the little stuff it needs now so I don't have any major problems down the road. Next up is trans flush/filter, coolant/t-stat, and then differential service as that is just barely starting to leak as well.

I have the forced lube tailshaft housing on my car.... Super easy to do even for a novice takes an hour to install tops. Only thing to look out for is to make sure the housing you get has a plug in it for where a speed sensor would go... If not you can get a speed sensor from an older cv and put it in the hole. I haven't had a leak yet and it has over 100k on the new housing.
