Are you going to hire a armed guard to protect your car while you leave it alone?
This seems very unnecessary, a thief will either just smash your window and grab what they can or take the entire car with a repo style truck. Neither of which this hood lock is going to prevent.

I have had a Viper car Alarm for 10 years and I am very happy with it.
I have had Car Alarms ever since a Car was stolen and I found out the extent of the Car Theft Rings "influence".

I've had a Viper as well, since 2006. (On my second remote though, as the first one lasted only a few years, and the replacement was expensive.)
The example he's giving is if you take your car into a body shop, or for detailing etc. Not a bad idea because every time I've been in a body shop around here, they've done their best to steal everything they could out of and off the car.
At the same time, it's a hell of a lot easier to secure / screw in the base for that cable lock on the drivers side onto the under dash sheet metal of a '66 Ford, than it would be on our cars.
I'll stick with the alarm, and continue to check everything when I get it back to see if something walked off while it was being worked on.

I have a custom hood. The Marauder stock hood latch no longer exists.

No, I saw an old James Bond film where he rigged the white sports car with C4. Break into the car and BOOM.
But, you are correct on the how the car will get pilfered or stolen part.

People ignore car alarms. Well, all except the one I invented.
When my Viper alarm sounds, instead of some typical, annoying alarm sound, you hear a porn soundtrack of a women screaming in ecstasy. Everybody looks over and goes to see what is going on.

I have to get one of those! [emoji6][emoji41]
They do ignore the siren for the most part, if there's no one around the car. Best thing I added to mine was a tilt sensor in case they try to jack up the car. Added after I caught some poor disadvantaged gang youths here in their $50,000 Lincoln, trying to steal my tires.

I think it was Robocop that had the commercial in the movie where a guy breaks into a car and gets electrocuted by the car. Maybe look into that style of theft deterrent.

I used to install those back in the late 70's at the Lincoln Mercury dealership. Can't remember if anyone had a car stolen or parts removed with it installed.

My secret kill switch that disables the fuel pump is simple and they will never find the switch in a few minutes which is the longest they want to hang around.
If they want my car they will have to tow it.

I used the same approach on my 1980 Chevy step-side pickup truck. I hide a one inch button switch directly underneath the brake pedal and under the floor carpet and padding. Of course, it was easily bypassed if one had knowledge and access under the hood. But no thief will spend the time to debug the issue.
Viper alarms can do the same thing.

The Alarm is more than just flashing lites and a syren.
The car that was stolen had no alarm. None of the cars that have had an alarm have been stolen.
Same as respects the homes.
Alarms work for me, nothing works for everybody, not even nothing.
It's like seatbelt usage. All sorts of arguments not to use them.
