I did some Google searches looking for information toward selecting a carbon fiber driveshaft. I found the following, but did not see recommendations on a standout choice.
https://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=802
https://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-963.html
I did find a Hot Rod article pointing me to QA1 carbon fiber drive shafts - The Lowdown On Carbon Fiber Driveshafts From QA1 (http://www.hotrod.com/articles/the-lowdown-on-carbon-fiber-driveshafts-from-qa1/)
My question is, if you use a carbon fiber drive shaft, which make/model do you recommend?

You call a shop, give them the dimensions, pay money and wait for delivery

HAD one....PST made one for me back in 2004.
I think that I was their 'guinea pig', as I had to send them all the measurements.
Awesome piece, weighed like 13 pounds.
Sold it to a member for $550.

Mark Williams will also make a CF driveshaft. Or metal matrix aluminum.

The Driveshaft Shop built my custom shaft and handles carbon fiber.
They were absolutely one of the best venders I've ever had the pleasure to deal with! It came in on time, fit perfect, and solved all my driveline issues.
I sent the guy who did the Marauder Coyote/6R80 swap to them as well and he couldn't have been anymore impressed with quality, customer service, and time frame.
You will need to provide them the length in static ride height.
I wouldn't say they try to compete with prices, instead they focus on quality..

I also have the PST, no issues, no vibration and I'd be willing to bet they have all the required measurements. It's very robust, they say it's good for close to 1000hp. I'm only at about 450hp level so it's overkill.

Out of 100 % asks, I have followed advice given 80 %. In the end, it is my right to make the final choice. No disrespect is intended.

I noticed that too, but I think he is going for the most expensive product available. I was waiting for the question "What do you guys think about gold plating everything under the hood?"

I don't have a opinion about CF driveshafts, however Duesenbergs get resored faster that this Marauder. For the money thrown by the fist full at this car it should have been done a long time ago.

I spoke to Dynotech about a carbonfiber driveshaft, they suggested against it. They said if anything kicks up off the road and hits the driveshaft, the driveshaft will splinter and most likely self-destruct. They suggested staying with an aluminum if I was going to drive on the road.

I was about to say, I don't think a carbon fiber driveshaft is worth it if the car is still used often. Or isn't a full blown race car.
Not my car, not my decision.

Mine is the original driveshaft and I have had my car upwards of 150 at the track - no shake for what its worth. But if you are tossing money at the car why not but you should be practical as was mentioned above I'd be worried about it getting ruined just driving around the block (raccoon, garbage can top, dip in the road, etc.)

Having had carbon fiber shafts.. on race cars & open track cars & many customers in race applications as well as street applications, carbon fiber driveshaft for a car that gets driven a bunch on the street is not normally recommended.
No offense or anything, but unless you are trying to get every last HP to the ground in a race car. A custom alum driveshaft is honestly the way to go.
If you are just trying to throw money at the car, go ahead. But.. in street applications, even the slightest damage to the driveshaft from road debris, can turn really messy quick..
A little story.
Customer with an opentrack mustang. Driving his car to the track, got stuck in traffic behind a truck hailing gravel going up the 14 freeway on his way to willow springs.
Upon getting on the track, and hammering on it.. the driveshaft broke. Ending his day.
“I heard the gravel bouncing underneath the car as I was driving behind the truck, didn’t think anything of it”
I had to change plans and come save him, I took the driveshaft from my racecar “same length, same trans” and bring it to him. So he could finish his track day event weekend..
The company that built the driveshaft, “this was damaged from road debris.. we don’t warranty road debris damage”
Just a word of caution. Op.. it is ultimately up to you. But it’s your money. My p71 track car.. cf d-shaft.. street driven p71/trackish car custom alum shaft.. mustang race car cf dshaft..

At this point it might as well be. It would have been much cheaper to just buy a Marauder like spectragods DTR and be done.

This is the advice I was given. So I went with a Mark Williams 4" metal Matrix Aluminum shaft. It was just as expensive as a CF shaft but more durable.

Have to agree, the money line got crossed long ago. "fool and his money,....". The project has become a high maintenance obsession I lacked the strength to end. I could have had multiple, quality Marauders, like Fordnut or similar here.
At my age, I thought I was smarter. Seems not.

Yes, but the respect is there for you and all, but one person, I have ignored advice from/argued with/insulted/pissed off. When a fellow Marauder owner needs help, I try to help people I have never meet. There is something special about this forum. It ain't me, but just saying.

It better be the Mona Lisa of Marauders for the time and money invested. Or at the least the shop owners children better go to a Ivy League school.

Nothing wrong at all with splurging on obsessions.. Provided you have the means and it doesn't affect your family either financially or being gone all day and night.
With age comes money, with money old dreams go from settling with to extreme. Age only plays into knowing better, but knowing better will never trump obsessions. Without dreams why live or work??
I'll never accomplish all of my dreams and I'm good with that. If I did I'd be bored. I say continue on! Most on here that give advice are basing their opinions on hard proven facts on what's best but on a realistic budget. If there's no longer a budget the these opinions are still an excellent tool for a starting ground.
I used to take a lot of pride by designing my own custom stuff. I'm just getting to the age where I wouldn't mind trading it all in for a much larger bank account! [emoji6]
