Ford's window sticker for a 2004 Grand Marquis states that the car has a "fail safe cooling system." However, the 2004 Marauder sticker does not include this description. What is this feature? Does a Marauder also include this feature and/or can it be easily installed?

It is an integral part of the engine design in the CV/GM and the Modular V8 that the Marauder has, does not have this feature design within it.

Oh oh... if you ever lose coolant on your '04 on a really hot day, you'll be dead in the water. You'll be pouring molten engine parts all over the curb as all those dozens of '03 Marauder owners put-put happily past you, content in the knowledge we're fully covered by our fail-safe systems.
Just kidding... if I remember correctly, it's just fuel and spark that's cut to alternating cylinders, allowing them to cool via the pumping action of the cylinders (along with the obvious oil splash from below on the bottom of the pistons). Not meant to carry you from Las Vegas to San Diego on a warm day, but it will allow you to get off the highway (and possibly to a dealer) without having everything seize up on you.
That being said, I just remembered one of our own having had an engine replaced because a faulty thermostat months earlier left behind some residual damage! If I recall correctly, the owner managed to pull over before the temp gauge got visually out of hand, but the engine *still* gave up the ghost months later. I forgot who it was.... Bob, I think?
So much for fail-safe cooling.... :shake:

FYI. Murader03 had the thermostat and scorched #4 and #8 piston problem back in mid-April. Think it is all taken care of now.

Please recall my cooling fan issue/repair THIS week!!
Per their (dealer service) instructions...DO NOT drive the car with engine heating probs...my cooling fan and associated wires, plugs, etc. were all REPLACED in total!!
Car was transported (flat bed) to dealer.
Warranty covered all...ZERO cost to me.

Charlie: You are correct about this. The temp gauge never reached redline before I shut her down. Took two months for the other problems to crop up. Shouldn't happen anymore since my trip this past week to see Dennis. More on that later......New engine, new windshield, buy delaer. Thety left the windows totally up on the hotest days in Delaware in May and cracked the windshield.

Not sure I understand this. I leave all my windows up all the time in Tennessee and Georgia with nary a problem. Also left them up all the time while in Ennis last year, no problems.

Not sure either, but the windshield is prone to cracking due to temperature. Mine was not the first this has happend to. This event also happened to my old CV. The dealer also told me it has happened to several they have serviced.
