I am planning a trial run of a fall foliage cruise for Marauder owners in Robbinsville, NC on October 14 (Saturday) on one of the most popular touring roads in the U.S for motorcyclists & sports car drivers, the Tail of the Dragon {U.S. 129} at the border of Tennessee & North Carolina and the adjoining Cherohala Skyway by the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The approximate length of the trip is +/- 120 miles and it would take most of the day to complete, including time for sightseeing & taking breaks for snacks & trips to the restroom. For those that are spending the night, I recommend getting lodging plans taken care of a.s.a.p due to the high demand of hotel rooms at this time of year. The meeting place for this cruise is at the intersection of US 129 & NC 28 (1 mile south of the TN/NC state line) [street address is 17555 Tapoco Road, Robbinsville, NC 28771.] The starting time of the cruise at this location is 10:00 a.m. For printable maps, go to www.tailofthedragonmaps.com
For general information, go to http://www.tailofthedragon.com For information on accomodations, dining options, and road conditions, go to http://tailofthedragontours.com
Post in this thread anyone that can make this cruise.
P.S Sorry for the short notice on my end.

Hmmm. Love that road. Was just down there and watched the eclipse at the Dragon store. I would love to head back down, but not sure I can swing it for that date.

Booked a room, and should see you up there. Called my Daddy, and he my drive over and ride with us. He said he's driven the Dragon many times but not in his new SS. What about you Fordnut? This is in your neighborhood. We'd love to see you.

I'll be staying in the nearby city of Andrews, NC on the Friday before the cruise until the following Monday. I originally was going to do the cruise today after an All Ford car show in Maggie Valley, NC yesterday, but I could not get the time off from work until this coming week. Also being that the remnants of hurricane Nate will affect the weather in the area this weekend, it all will work out for the best. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone that could attend. Also the Fall Foliage forecast is showing better colors more towards the middle of October.

What a coincidence we booked a room in Andrews NC also. What's the odds it's the same hotel. I think there's only 1 hotel in Andrews.

I checked in late Friday night, but I'm here. I could see Granddaddy Marq's Silver Birch parked at the same hotel. I hope to see everyone that can make it tomorrow.

Great ride Rick. We loved it. I can not get any of the pictures to load. It was good to see everyone, all 3 of y'all. I'm going to have to move forward with the big break up grade. I think I got them hot and warped them. Developed a strange transportation issue and my random misfire is worse. Even with the little head aches I can't wait to go back. Thank for setting this up.

You're quite welcome. I didn't do too bad considering that this was planned on short notice. You're quite welcome. Hope you're going to make it home without any problems. My brake rotors are a little bit warped today when I apply the brakes really hard. Thanks to everyone that participated today. Hopefully by July of next year, I'll post up about doing this again.

Yeah that Dragon's tail definitely whipped us around. Had a great time with ya'll. Looking forward to next time. My brakes are doing just fine those Wilwoods work pretty good. Better brakes are definitely worth the money.
