View Full Version : Strange transmission issues

For about a month now I've noticed a slight jerking when I lift off the pedal above 60 mph. It seems to be worse sense the run thought the Dragon this passed weekend. I'm thinking it a torque converter issue. When you lift off the accelerator to coast there's a slight jerking and slowing. As if it's in a bind. I think the torque converter is locking in and out. This occurs with the cruise control on also. I don't have a very good understanding of the inter workings of an automatic transmission. Maybe someone here has had this issue or knows what's going on.

If there's a trustworthy (good luck) transmission shop near you, I would take it in for a diagnostic. A couple of years ago was having an OD problem with the MGM. A shop in Sioux Falls was recommended by a car guy. Turned out it took about fifteen minutes and I was out of there with a new connector and for under $75. Don't always assume worst case scenario...

That does kind of sound like a converter lock up issue, but probably a good idea to have it checked out. Make sure you look at the fluid and make sure the level is good and not burnt.

Or was never in right to begin with and he's just noticing the issue.

Same thing happened to me when I was hard on my Tranny & she didn't like it.
