My MM was side swiped a few weeks ago, damage limited to side of rear bumper cover, tail lite and rear fender, a few wrinkles.

While I was browsing in the repair ship a policeman offered me $10,000.00 cash, as is, for the car, after body shop repair.

I was sorely tempted since the book value is only 5k, (136,000 miles, fair condition).

But just might, because the moon roof needs repaired and the rear window defroster is inoperative, rear tires and brakes also due for replacement.

Patricia say's do it and buy another in better shape with less mileage.

I hesitate because the car runs so good.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Love nothing, sell all, that’s all I have for you.

It’s certainly a better than fair deal. You might come out ahead in the long run, especially if you kept it and then repaired / replaced the roof, brakes, tires, etc.

I’d be torn as well, especially not knowing if I’d be able to score a better one for less. (Obviously the cop doesn’t think he can...)

You would have to start over with an unknown. Certain cars are family. Sounds like you love your car. You have a history together. Keep it.

In the end, its just a car and many, many people buy and sell cars often and enjoy it. I for one hold on to them for a long time. I am an original owner and have often wondered about selling to get a car in better condition or "move up" to something better. For what's its worth, I still have it and have no plans on selling it. I know what it needs and I know what it doesn't need.

I'd laugh at him myself considering the mileage isn't all that much, then add in the S/C, nitrous, converter, and whatever else you've thrown at it..

I'd pass on that offer, it sounds fair but not enough. You are the original owner, right? That alone is reason enough to hold onto it.

Hell I didn't know you had all THAT in it. 10k? That's crazy.

I have 150k on mine and with all the upgrades I've done and systems restored, new cosmetic parts installed, it would pass for a car with 50k. I would not take less than 15k for it, regardless of the miles. Never plan on selling it though.

Agree, I was thinking of my n/a car, didn’t know all your mods. But even then I’ve put so much work in it I wouldn’t want to ever part with it.
