Just got a 2-gauge pillar pod. Gotta paint it before installation. Also gotta decide what to monitor. I'm N/A and PLAN to stay that way (ya never know) so I'm thinking a tranny temp gauge for sure. What else? Oil temp? Fuel pressure? Vacuum?

I say move your working Oil Pressure gauge and add the Fuel Pressure gauge on the pillar...Tranny temp goes down where the "old' Oil pressure gauge was.

Pick the 2 that will "move" the most...in a good way...to be in eye-sight.

I saw an n/a YAMAHA SHO supposedly stroked, with bling racing wheels at our last dyno meet. He had a dual gauge pod. One monitered boost! I believe it was connected to his recarro 5-point seats.

BTW: It dynoed at 252 rwhp....:puke:
Remember the invation of the SHO guys? I'd eat that SHO for a snack!
Too back the jap motor, oh, uh hum, the faster Yamaha motor would blow my Marauders low carb diet....damn rice....too fatty.

.02Well, consider this. I have on my mod plan to install a Dakota Digital tire pressure/temperature gauge. This is a new product that reads out each tire pressure/temperature, and is programmable to alert you (by flashing the digits) when a tire is out of acceptable range.

I have other gauge ideas, but I am not so sure that tranny temp is on the top of my list. If I were you, I would follow Todd's idea, but relocate the OP and Volts gages, and put secondary gauges in the "below eyeline" gage pod on the console.

BTW, with my digital gauges you can actually see the SCT chip turn off the alternater on WOT. Even though you're getton on it the volt readings drop until it reaches 12 volts - the output of the battery. Let off the throttle and volts climb back up to 14.

I would definitely want to monitor transmission fluid temperature, taken off the line coming from the convertor when it's hottest.

The other boost pressure. You might want to use vacuum there as the day may come when you break down and decide to abandon the hum-drum (comparative) life of NA for the first and last word in hot-rod cars since the late 40's, Supercharging. You can then replace the vacuum guage for boost.

FordNut -

I installed my 2-gauge pillar pod using trans temp and oil temp gauges. I, too, plan to stay N/A forever. Eventually, a bored & stroked motor with p&p heads / cams will find it's way into my engine bay.

Trans temp is a must for me. I have a curse with Ford trannys (I went through 7 in my F350 and 4 in my assigned patrol car). I had DR build mine and I installed the gauge to ensure that everything is staying cool.

Oil temp just seemed kinda logical to me... can't explain my decision to install it though... just seemed right. I can't see having a fuel pressure gauge since it's still a basically stock vehicle and totally stock motor. Same with AFR. As far as a vacuum/boost gauge... why do it if an SC or TC isn't in our future?

... As far as a vacuum/boost gauge... why do it if an SC or TC isn't in our future?A vacuum guage is the best indicator of engine load and, as a result, also the best indicator of gas mileage. High vacuum=high mpg; low vacuum=low mpg, regardless of rpms.

In the case of boost=***** mpgs. :shot:

I would say an oil temp guage should be tops on everyone's list. Oil temperature is the best way to know when your engine is truly warmed up; we wouldn't rev the engine during warmup on the F2000 car until we saw 140F minimum, and the 4.6L is MUCH more complex and high-tech (if slightly less-stressed) than a 2.0L 4 cylinder NEA series Ford (ie. Pinto block with a crossflow head). Then it's up to you; I would say put the real #4327 oil pressure gauge in the pod with the oil temp, and put the tranny temp next to the voltmeter. Let us know what you decide, and good luck with the install!

As a SHO owner myself its interesting.

I'm in the market, very soon, for a Marauder. Really two different types of cars.

I have the dual pod gauges myself. I was the 4th Generation 3 SHO owner in the country to get them back in early 2000. I have an active oil and voltmeter on the A-pillar.

My SHO is a beautiful thing...only one major problem. No room under the hood to expand.

There is one supercharged V8 SHO out there. Expensive to set up, over 10K, and he's gone through 2-3 tranny's.

Gotta love the Marauder....easily modded, lots of room under the hood.

I love my SHO, but its time to move onward and upward. The SHO is a great car. I love giving the Cobra guys a hard time in January when they want to race...but they say they'll have to wait til April as their cars in storage :) (At least up here in MN).

Hey Donny--you better be careful there --you'll in up with more gauges to watch than the road--Ouch!-...carry on..........Tom

Um, Barry...don't you mean 252 wwhp (wrong-wheel horsepower)?

Have you gotten this part yet?

I have a 2004 and I do not have the clock and I keep thinking what a great place for a few gauges. I would prefer they be digital since they would fit the space better and the possibility exists that the displays could be remoted a bit from the circuitry making fitment easier.

I would if that display *must* exist in that round gauge?
