View Full Version : My Beater does the strangest thing after sitting for days
TWSS?
Anyway, I usually drive my DD Marauder...daily. There are times where I drive my Town Car for 3-7 days in a row, leaving the DD parked.
If I let the car sit for this length of time, it does the weirdest thing.
When cranking, it sounds and feels as if all 8 plugs are out of the car. (No compression)
The car will start when I crack the throttle and keep it open.
It will smoke profusely and run crappy for a few minutes, then it's fine.
It's as if someone poured fuel in all of the cylinders and washed the rings out.
I have run out of ideas as to why this happens.
Anyone have a clue?

It sounds like oil is leaking into the cylinders. If this is Zack, I m surprised you did not know the symptoms. Just sayin as everything I have heard, you are the guru.

I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Prius, it turned out my blinker fluid was low, you’d think they’d have a light on the dash to let you know.....[emoji3]

How’s your compression? Have you completed a leak down test? Maybe the injectors are leaking out or there’s oil seeping in the cylinder.

It would only take one or two leaky injectors to make her spin faster. I think I still have my 45,000 stock injectors if you want em.

losing its prime for whatever reason. non return system you are displacing air by holding throttle open making injectors open longer then instant over fuel once fuel arrives. thus smoke quicker crank speed due to colder temps and most likely wear.

Smoke is white, blue or dark grey/black...?

Smell the oil and see if a strong smell of gasoline is present.

I'm going with the leaky injectors, or your DD MM is a lonely conniving bee-otch that is jealous of the TC.

Ok. My DTR sat for 4 days
Cranked it over and it sounded like the starter was dragging slow, or the battery was low
It cranked odd, like timing was off
Died twice
Third time it kept running and my foot was needed to keep it running, definite miss after starting.
175k. Stock bs
Started fine after buying beer
Pushrods will fix it?

Shi!t. If your gonna let it sit for three days, better put some Stabil in the fuel.

Water under one or two of the COP covers?
Broken or failed IAC valve? Try disconnecting the IAC valve and see if the weird start goes away (you might still need to press the throttle slightly, since the IAC will be inactive [unless it is also cracked and still allows air in]).
