Looking for a recommendation for 1/4" Wheels Spacer for rears, on OEM Wheels Widened 1.5".
The Nitto NT05R DRAG 305/45R18 are rubbing, particularly the pass side.
First time on I had suspicions and took her on a 6 mile trip, at 3 miles I smelled the rubber a burning, :flamer:, thought I was at the Drag Strip.:)
The MT 3786R P305/45R18 ET Street Radials didn't rub.
Thank you.

You are not allowed to run wider tires than me, speedy. :)

summit racing has pretty much anything you want for spacers. are you running drag radials as daily driving?

Drag Radials for track & to/from track only.
IF anyone can recc a brand and the p/n that would be awesome.
I want to get to the track while the dry cold fronts are coming.;)

Not trying to be a dick, but what is so difficult about finding a 1/4 piece if aluminum on summit website? bolt pattern and you are there.

Nothing, I prefer to go with something some one else has used and can verify it's suitable with no issues.
I missed drag racing this weekend and would like to make it this Friday.

For the shock, take it off and cut off the housing around the top half. The A-arm is another story completely... never seen one rub there before. I'd be looking closely at all of your rear control arm bushings.

Well, if nobody speaks up then you will have to make a choice yourself. There is only 10-11 choices on Summit racing for Ford bolt pattern in 1/4 inch thickness. pick a name you are familiar with. they range from $9 to $50 ish bucks

I'm using the 1/8" spacers from here:
http://www.maximummotorsports.com/MM-Wheel-Spacers-C231.aspx
I have widened stock wheels to 9.5", currently running 295-45-18 Nitto NT555 street tire. Was previously running the 305 MT Street ET IIs with no rubbing.
I would guess that the 1/4" spacer is just as quality as the 1/8" one.

Am using the ¼" version of the spacer (MMWS-2 (http://www.maximummotorsports.com/14-thick-wheel-spacers-5-Lug-pair-1979-2014-Mustang-P574.aspx)), and have since 2004.
Back then they were hub centric, made by H&R (http://www.hrsprings.com/products/detail/trak), and in addition to the quality, the reason(s) I opted for them.

Also ...
Eibach (http://eibach.com/us/c-82-products-street-performance-pro-spacer-wheel-spacers.html) offers comparative high quality, hub centric spacers / adapters for less $$$ than H&R.

At 1/4" for the spacer I don't think I will need them.

At 1/4" for the spacer I don't think I will need them.I widened my rims and have 3/8" spacers. I've been driving on them for a couple of years. Just had new drag radials installed and the installer stripped the threads out of the nuts because there weren't enough threads to catch. I'm getting longer lugs.
With all of the drag racing that you do, you may want to consider it.

Installed the 1/4" Spacers and went on a test drive. No rubbing!
With the spacers I got 7.25 turns on the McGard Lugs.
I will check them when I drive to the track and after each run.
An engineer told me many years ago that he conducted tests and that the static load was all on the first 1.5 threads. He was very innovative in designing bridges and mid-stream loading equipment.

So your 305's apparently work well on a 9.5" rim. I thought guys were widening their wheels to 10" on their Marauders. I know the 305's are really designed for 10" wheels. Or am I wrong? I'm thinking of doing this. Any clarification appreciated.

standard fastener specs are 1.5 times the diameter for thread engagement is ideal. a 1/2 inch stud needs .75 depth of lug nut engagement

Per Nitto Rim Width
P305/45R18 9.5-(10.0)-11.5
I ran MT P305/45R18 for 10 years on 9.5" w/ no issues.

Thanks. I think I will do this. Those spacers pop off easy I assume. I will have a track wheels/tires set and daily driver set.
I suppose I could just leave the spacers on regardless....

The MT 3786R P305/45R18 ET Street Radials didn't rub. They stopped making them. The replacements are not suitable for me to drive to the track.
Only the NITTOs rub.

I would get the Nitto 555s.
As far as the spacer and lug nuts, you're not the first to need a spacer, so has anyone had to replace the studs?
Are the McGard lug nuts really necessary?

The OEM are a cover over a lug and with use the cover get loose.
The McGard are a solid piece. I listed them in the event it has a different number of threads due to the spacers.
The spacers come right off.

Got it. Thanks.
I replaced my lugs with solid ones some time back. Those covered ones are a joke.

I just found those exact Baer spacers, used on ebay for $21.81 shipped. Nice.

I was not 100% comfortable on the number of turns needed on a stud for a car that is raced. One Web site said 6 turns.
OEM ~12.5 Turns, W/ .25" Spacer ~7.5 turns.
I purchased Currie Studs and had them machined. I got ~14.5 turns and so far = good.:)

I take it you pulled your axles to R&R the studs? I really DO NOT want to have to undo the work I did on the TruTrac diff to pull those axles out.....

The axles were pulled.

Gosh darn it! That TruTrac and new 41 spline Ford axles went in do tight, I'll have to cut out the shims to remove them. The 'C' clips had to get set with a drift.
