OK, CEL came on a month ago, forget the codes now but the most obvious culprit was the PCV. Went under the hood and sure enough it was leaking down the valve covers. Bought a new valve, line, the whole dealy from Ford. Installation was super easy. CEL has yet to go off on its own, its probably been 400-500 miles since installation. In the last few days, I've noticed a hesitation for the trans to shift to the next gear, so it's going into higher RPMs than I am used to. This is my DD and honestly I drive it pretty gently. So really, as I accelerate, the RPM generally doesn't go above 2000, until Im highway cruising anyways. Now it wants to go up to 2500-3000 RPM before shifting. 2003, 193k miles, bought the car at 103k miles and have never replaced the trans, could be original. Motor might have 80-100k miles on it, bought used, been driving it for 2-3 years now. Coils have been replaced once so far. Trans fluid and filter done at approx. 150k. Battery is less than two years old. Plugs and Wires are less than four years old.

May be the throttle position switch. Mine went thru that at about the same millage. Mine would do it occasionally and could turn the car off and re crank it
would help.

Are you on original coils?

First, Trans fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles.
Your at 43,000. Have you changed your COPS? That usually causes
a miss on acceleration, not what your describing.

My tranny went out at 198,000 miles. I lost reverse.
