View Full Version : Swapping from clutch to solid alternator pulley

Just a couple questions - So I have a 10% od crank pulley, I'm looking at getting a 3.2" solid pulley so I don't over spin the alternator.

Now I understand I need the special splined fitting to remove the factory pulley.

1. Will these oversized pullies marketed for cobras fit fine on our alternator? (I'm assuming they do)

2. Does anyone know the size / thread pitch of the nut used with a solid pulley? And or know what application used a solid pulley so I can get the nut from the junk yard.

Thanks!

I put the 8rib cobra pulley on the MM alternator no need for ratchet type pulley

Where did you get the nut for the pulley?

IIRC the nut size is fine thread 18MM. Ford has it, just verify the part# from the Eaton parts list thread.

No problem, but please confirm as it’s been awhile. Maybe google 16mm and 18mm. It’s definitely one of the two. It should also be the same thread and pitch as most Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Mercedes just to name a few. [emoji1303]
