Does Ford still make them for our cars? The OEM ones I got from Ray the Dealer here held up great for 12+ years but finally started to have some coating loss and rust. I can’t find them in black.
I replaced them with some u-channel stuff I got on Amazon, that looked fine for about 3 months then started slipping, and worse letting dirt under the rubber, which is hell on the paint. They were missing the internal metal that the Ford ones had.
(The only down side to having them in the first place was that they lightly score the paint, so I need them replaced anyway.) Thanks.
P.S. I might have just gotten cheap Chinese ones. Please let me know if you’ve found a decent aftermarket brand somewhere else.

I️ bought some cheap ones from Autozone about thirteen years ago and no slippage or discolor.
Did you clean any wax off or use alcohol wipes before hand?

The factory ones are obsolete.

Yep, thanks, that’s the stuff I installed 3 months ago that’s falling off. It’s cheap enough that I’ll just have to keep reinstalling it 3 times a year I guess. Bull$hi@.
The coated metal u-channel ones Ford made stayed on like crazy and lasted a long time. At the time I figured they might mark the paint edge, but as long as they were replaceable I didn’t think it was an issue.

Happened to score a new OEM set last week for $30. (*Bay item #201995948981) Arrived in original factory packaging and even included the rectangular installation tool - need to figure out how to use it, though! *https://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3648
Also on *Bay, just bought a brand new OEM trunk organizer (3W1Z-54115A00-AA) yesterday from Germany for $215 including shipping. Granted, it's not the 'multi-fold top' model I would have preferred but there are NONE available in any configuration in the U.S. as far as I could find and I have spent multiple hours searching, ordering, and calling. And, every one that ever posted on this and any other related site were snapped up within minutes. (Was definitely not interested in the police versions.)
Get creative and cross-reference your part number searches - it's tedious but well worth the time. I have gleaned so many part numbers from studying and recording the members' vehicle specs.
They're ALL still out there - I was just lucky this time!
My ultimate find will be the Pro-Gard U200FR rear skid plate. Any leads/suggestions/alternatives would be much appreciated!

3W1Z-54115A00-AA is for a TownCar. It is smaller than the correct one for a Marauder, CV, GM.

Can’t believe you found those, good for you! I’d pay that in a second. The new ones without a metal insert are junk.
No idea what a “rectangular installation tool” is, my original ones didn’t come with anything, and I just pressed them on.
I do have the Pro Gard installed which is a nice add on.

NXSBOB - thanks very much for the heads-up and taking the time to respond! Hoping I can get the guy to let me cancel with a $50 "time-and-trouble fee".

I had the OEM Ford edge guards in black.
When I had the repaint done , they bent beyond
Being able to reuse .
They did scratch the paint removing them

they are discontinued with crown vics being out of prod. for 7 years and most in service crowns retired or being retired. progard only sells thru distributors so possibility of a dealsr having a leftover could exist.

Yes, in 2004 Ray the dealer here had them for cheap. Wish I had known or used my brain that they had a service life and weren’t permanent, I would have bought 3 sets.

Well, the stereotypically efficient German seller already had DHL collect the package within hours after purchase. Hope there's still an interest out there for an '03 Lincoln organizer or I'm stuck! :violin:
Something my Dad always used to say immediately came rolling back into mind: the best lesson is a bought lesson - the more you pay for it, the better you'll learn it.

Pro-guard used my car for the pattern. Call them direct and ask them.

Mercman,
I did and received an immediate response listing their distributors here in Texas - wish me luck!
May circle back to you if all leads fail.
Thinking out loud, I've seen a lot of 'group buys' here - wonder if they'd consider a limited production run if there was enough interest. They already have the proven template/materials and it would be fast, easy dollars direct to their bottom line. And, I think there would probably be enough interest among us who arrived late to the Marauder Party and want to add, in my opinion, a must-have preventive remedy for sagging a$$.
Thanks!
