I visited a local car show/open run which takes place on a weekly basis. Lots of variety, 30's, 40's street rods & restored originals, 50's, 60's hot rods, late model performance cars stay in one section of the lot while the ricers with their boom boxes, strobes, neon, video systems, pneumatics, body trim kits, and paint jobs are in a different section.
I went over and checked out the "other side" and was quite surprised at some of the hardware. Some of the guys are running sleepers, as in plain wrapper Civic with turbocharged, intercooled boost systems using equal-length tubular headers and all the goodies to go along with it. One guy is pushing almost 500 FWHP (seems weird, doesn't it?) and doesn't seem to mind that pistons only last a couple of months between replacements.
I guess a lesson to be learned is to know what you're up against or it could be embarrasing!
