Battery Connector

Wondering if someone might have a suggestion where I could get one of these?

It's from my wife's 2013 Ford Explorer. I purchased a new battery and I cannot get this old one off.

Ford wants $285 for this and the cable.

I bought a cheap one from O'Reilley's, but the bolt that the cable connects to is too big.

you can drill out the hole on the cable terminal to fit the bolt

or you can just get the factory one off of the old battery...

or the junkyard,

or strip the wire and clamp the new terminal onto the wire (if its that kind of terminal)

Stick a screwdriver in the split an twist the screwdriver. Grab the terminal with some pliers and twist off.

Mix up some baking soda and water into a paste and coat the terminal with it. After it stops foaming rinse with water.

Soak with PB Blaster for a day if no rush or 5 minutes and wack the terminal with a small ball peen hammer. I love heating the metal but I can't say how with a battery-no spark or open flames.

Searched online and found Ford part# BT4Z-14450-BA and a Ford dealer about 40 minutes from my house had one for about $20. Thanks for the help.

I just spent last night f___ - uh, I mean, 'messing' with a battery clamp from an '06 Montego (Ford Five Hundred, later renamed the Taurus), trying to get all the corrosion off. Getting ready for the cold weather...

The Montego clamp is a virtual duplicate of the clamp pictured, and they are still making the Taurus body style.

The comments in this thread are right on. Nothing better than baking soda for the green / blue stuff.

I will say that the baking soda works best when you have gotten the crap off by mechanical means first; wire brush and screwdriver-as-chisel. The soda is best at getting the last little bit bubbled away. If you try to get the whole glob of green / blue stuff with just baking soda, you will be there a while.

I pour hot water from my kettle onto the battery terminal to get rid of the blue stuff. Works instantly and is completely touchless.
