My custom hood is near ready for fitment on a Marauder. I am writing to ask if any members live near Class Glass Performance and would be willing to visit and allow a hood fitment session. I will pay for gas and extra for your time.

A Kenne Bell 3.2LC Mammoth supercharger sitting on top of a Cobra air intake manifold. I need 3" clearance beyond the stock hood.

Any Cumberland, Maryland (or nearby) residents?
Cumberland is a little town...probably not many, if any members out there.
I live a little over 2 hours from Cumberland, but our roads are an absolute mess....they look like a salt lick!
Sorry... but the Marauder, now finally running again, won't see any roads until a good rainy Springtime.
(Most likely will be sold by then anyway)
Maybe some Pittsburgh area members can help....they are actually closer to Cumberland than most DC/Baltimore area members.

All I can say is..... if your as picky as I, you’ll probably not be happy with the quality, my first round of paint......30 hours of prep to make it fit and make it nice.
1 1/2 years later, the bonding material between the top and bottom finally set up, drew in the areas where the compound was.
Had to strip and regelcoat the hood, 3 years later it still looks great.
Don’t forget some type of a hood pin, I’m using quick latch pins, you may or may not like them.

Do I read your post correctly - you had a bad experience with Class Glass? If yes, what can I guide Class Glass to do you yield the best product possible?

I’ve seen others that had the same defects as mine, the owners of those particular cars didn’t see what I saw. Everyone is different, but given how this is going on a heavily modded car that is nice, I think he will see the same things I saw.

No, I will not. Either Class Glass produces a high quality product or I have the hood built out of steel for $5,000.00 - 7,000.00.
Thank you Spectragod for the heads up.
The first Gen Glass Glass hoods were thinner according to the owner. The power Power buldge hoods are thicker but have some issues also. Having to fix the duck pond ( terms used by the body shop ) cost thousands of dollars to include painting and blending of the left and right panels. Also consider a set of hood pins. My first Glass Glass hood warped on the left side more then the right. Heat is not your friend. I don't drive my car much but the hood has given little problems, but I am on my second pair of hood struts. Good luck with your purchase. :banana2:

I have to agree, they are nice looking hoods but the finish quality isn't great. Fiberglass is a pain to begin with and after 20 hours trying to get it shaped and finished better my funds had dried up and had it sprayed. I would say good from a far but far from good.

My hood looks great, between the 2 times it had work done, the hours in making it right are around 80 or so, YMMV.

I just completed a call with Kris Montana at Class Glass. Kris took over operations at Class Glass last February, 2017. He is well aware of the cupping, heat warping and cowl edge problems of the past. Additional design flaws have been addressed. Kris slowly walked me through the changes the company has made to prevent such issues. Since March 2017, only one hood has received a complaint and that issue was rectified at no expense to the owner.
Kris walked me through how my hood is constructed and steps they take to ensure the cowl edges are softer/less slope for a cleaner look and long lasting. He also shared the construction change they made to the mold to prevent cupping. Lastly, Kris is using Lizard Skin (http://www.lizardskin.com/car-ceramic-insulation.html) to thermal insulate my hood from engine heat. This not only reduces the #1 cause of warping, but leaves the underside of the hood with a show quality, uniform look.
All-in-all, I am looking forward to receiving my Class Glass hood. There is no deadline for delivery. My outcome is the best hood Class Glass can make against the example I provided (see photo below). We will all find out the outcome together.

I like the lines of that example better than the original. If it turns out nice, I may get one and replace my modified steel hood.
Did you ask if they would make it out of carbon fiber instead of fiberglass? Not CF laid out to have the woven look, but laid just like fiberglass for painting but stronger and lighter.

No, I did not ask about carbon fiber. I did not know carbon fiber could be made to be paintable and look like steel. Crap! :depress:

Mine is actually a steel hood with cutout for the blower, then a fiberglass cowl scoop from a Cobra hood bonded to it. The shape looks good but it's really heavy.

It's basically the epoxy that gets painted, whether the fiber is fiberglass or CF. Funny car bodies are made of CF...

That's Ladyhawkes Kenny Brown Marauder in your picture (Widow Maker).
Haggis has a Kenny Brown as well (stock hood) with duel charcoal colored racing stripes on the horizontal surfaces.
They have Kenny Brown Signature cars numbers 5 and 8 out of 10. Not sure who has which one though. :)

You should be more specific. 2010 vs 2017 is a big difference on the standard hood.
Then there's is the '10 shaker and the newer hellcat one
They did make a 2010 style all the way back in 2004 for the marauder, it looks close to the 2011 challenger hood. Looks pretty good

I’m kinda digging that. But maybe two side by side like racing stripes? Or smaller roller tray fender scoops? Or even the smaller ones backwards on the C pillars like a Shelby?? Oh the ideas I have..

I remember a Black 1970 Caddy Sedan De Ville with 2 wire dish drying racks on each side of the hood and dryer flex pipe going from the fender to the wire drying dish racks.
I never could understand what it was all about. I would see it a couple of times a year. It was in great shape and always clean. I got a big laugh out of it every time I saw it.
One day I saw him getting in it and I stopped him to ask him what the wire dish drying racks were for. He gave me a very I puzzled look so I asked are they just for decoration and he said yes.
I never laughed again when I saw it but I also never figured what it was all about except to know that to him it was his "pride and joy".
