View Full Version : Cobra Air intake tube slips off

The Cobra air intake tube 2R3V 9R504 BB always wants to become slightly unseated from the oval intake plenum no matter how I attach it...super tight, medium tight or just snug. I even tried to add some silicone and it doesn't seem to solve the issue. It seems to be in fine condition and I am perplexed as to what the problem is. Anyone have a similar issue? I can't find a new or used one anywhere and I'm sick of worrying about it.
Any advice would be appreciated.

does it use hose clamp to secure? switch to constant tension clamps

Mcmaster Carr has them, that's where i got mine. tbey look like hose clamps but can get wider ones andthey have either a spring or Bellville washers that keep constant pressure

Here's the page. If anyone knows the one to order so I'm not guessing would be great.
Thanks!

You can see the goofy clamp with the slots in it to clear the rubber if you look close in this pic.

Your Welcome!
I looked in my MM mail and the message wasn't there anymore. I couldn't find the thread because it was unrelated to the clip. You had your address on the envelope but no name. So I didn't know who it was anymore....
Thanks again!

So who can tell me which clamp to buy?

those rubber tabs will need to be removed as any other clamp wont have the slots for them. Take your clamp off after marking with marker where it is now. then remove it and screw it back together in a circle and measure it across thus giving you a diameter.
is there a bunch of silicone spray or dressing for shine on it?, take it off and clean the intake opening well, no grease, oily etc and the inside of tube

Looks to me the entire air intake track is not supported, so its tugging on the clamp on the t-body. Is there nothing holding it up? Maybe that would fix the issue.

I should build a custom bracket or something. The air filter actually rests on a couple zip ties I strung across underneath it. It sounds goofy but works well and is invisible.

I just figured someone ordered one and knew exactly which one works. Thanks.

Just spray hair spray on it. I suggest maximum hold for those windy days you need to look your best.

I just had a flash of someone over tightening their throttle body and went WOT, causing the throttle to stay wide open.
Dont be that guy, OK?

I'll give you $8 to make one for me. And 50 cents to install it.

Which throttle body? I had a hell of a time keeping it clamped with the accufab throttle body on this build and eventually went back to a stock throttle body. Zero change in power, by the way. You don't need as big of a throttle body if it is flowing pressurized air.
