Took the Marauder in to have the oil leak coming from where I thought was the oil filter housing gasket. Was told it is actually the timing chain gasket leaking, a much bigger job to me.
Is there anything I should be replacing while they are in there? Car has 160000 mi with no other symptoms than an oil leak.

You'll know once You open it up.
But if I were You I'd find Zack's list of what to replace and do exactly that. Just so You know it's been done with the correct parts and You won't have to go back in there for a while.

I also have a rattle at cold start-up. I wonder if this could be worn guides?

If its coming off, might as well buy the tensioners and guides. He had a list of stuffs minus the chains.
Miles?

Yes, that's a sign to replace what's worn.

Geez, I hope mine is just the OF housing and not the timing chain gasket. I still kick myself for beating hell out of that area getting the stuck WP out.

Got a chance to see it today with the timing chain cover off. Looked good. Some wear on the guides but not bad for 160000mi. Going to replace the oil pump and all the chain guides and accessories. Looking at around $800 in parts alone. I hope she lasts another 100000mi.
Anything else I need to do before having this thing put back together?

Anything else I need to do before having this thing put back together?Well you could go all out, like I did. Lol clean and powder coat everything. I did the 2 idler pulleys, belt, water pump.

Hmm yeah I should do the t stat too while all the water is out. Good thinking.
Do every gasket you have off or can get to easily. I'm doing all the intake gaskets too.
