from what i have read the ford manifold is better, because it has threaded metal inserts for the coil mounts.

You get what you pay for. Get the ford unit pi manifold and you wont have problems.

"Panther" is a huge umbrella. I can assume you mean current 4.6 SOHC. This motor has a high failure rate on these. My buddy has a 4.6 Mustang GT and I have replaced his twice. Fortunately the Dorman one has a lifetime warranty. It's pretty straightforward but requires quite an invasive teardown. I can do it in 2 hours on a cold motor. Nothing really tricky BUT while you're in there replace the little rubber hose that goes into the water pump. It will never be more accessible. Pro tip: Use a torque wrench because there's no room for guessing on the torque specs or sequence.

I would also inspect the coolant pipe that runs back of the water pump, I had two friends who changed the intake and a few weeks later that pipe started leaking.

2004 requires a PI (Power Improved) intake. Just get one that says it's for 2001+ 4.6L motors. The FRPP manifold is most highly recommended.

I look for that but is way too higher in price ( $300.00 or more ) and I cannot pay this amount at this precise moment.

Summit has the FRPP for $264 with free shipping. If that still too much, then Amazon has the ATP version (https://www.amazon.com/ATP-Automotive-106007-Engine-Manifold/dp/B00PH97FQG/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Mercury%7C56&Model=Grand%20Marquis%7C718&Year=2004%7C2004&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&newVehicle=1&s=automotive&vehicleId=2&vehicleType=automotive), which is a copy of the Dorman, for $160 with free shipping, although that one is not an true exact replacement.

What is the brand of the one you pictured?

I think that that one in the pic is the Dorman one

The Dorman one will certainly work, it's just not an exact copy of the Ford one. Dorman took their nPI manifold casting and modified it to fit the PI heads so the flow characteristics are not optimised for a PI engine.

I put the Dorman on my old Town Car. Worked fine. It has the aluminum tstat housing instead of the plastic. That's why you have a failure. The rest is just well, whatever... You simply need the car to run.
