You asking about the blue silicone ones that were an option on the CVPI?

I have used the blue hoses of several of my HP Mustangs. Not bad on performance.
They newest generation come in black. I have a set on my 750 HP '93 Mustang GT.
Not only do they look correct under the hood, they perform fine.

What makes silicone hoses better than regular hoses? Been 30 years since I've heard about cars blowing hoses.

Clearly you have not had the hoses installed in my cars.

Rubber hoses are like eating very fatty foods. The time bomb always goes off when you least expect it.

Yes and when they blow they do it at the worst possible time.

Don't forget to use the correct clamps. Regular hose clamps will dig into the silicone hose and cause premature wear or failure. The clamps meant for silicone will have an additional band inside.

I remember the hoses on 60's and 70's cars were routine maintenance, every 30-40K now everybody I know drives 100K+ and to my knowledge hoses aren't much of an issue. I just figured as time passed the materials used on modern hoses meant that replacement was on an as need basis.
So what's the advantage of silicone hoses?

prolly really none today as most of today's quality coolant hose is made from EPDM rubber, a synthetic rubber with properties to last a long time
