I can't get my car to pass emissions here in NOVA... it won't run the evap ready check, or (most important) won't run the catalyst ready check. I've exhausted all of my options except for one. I think that my tune has the "down stream" O2 sensors turned off. Hell, I don't even know if I have them installed on the car. My custom exhaust saw to that...
Has anyone run into a similar situation? I never had a problem in the past, but VA is now running new parameters and software...
Thanks!

Sent from my SM-N950U using TapatalkInstalling a Performance Tune with an Aftermarket Tuner Tool. This changes the stock programming and calibration of the engine computer. Such changes are often made to increase power, change shift points, recalibrate the speedometer for different gear ratios or wheel sizes, change rev limiters and so on. Tuning modifications may also be made so the engine will run properly with aftermarket performance accessories such as a cold air intake, exhaust headers, low restriction converters or mufflers, performance camshafts and intake manifolds. But changing the programming may prevent some of the monitors from running. Some of these programs disable the downstream O2 sensors, which will prevent the catalyst monitor from running. The fix is to return the programming back to stock (which may also require temporarily removing some of the aftermarket performance parts, too!).

Have you run the Ford Drive Cycle?
The evap monitor has very specific parameters which must be met before it will set. For instance, it will only set if the fuel tank is between 15% and 85% (among other things). It also requires the HO2S monitor to be set first, so that's what you should concentrate on.

My question is with the rear o2 sensors and my sc tune.

Because you are running a S/C tune you should call or PM Marty at Mo's. He can most likely get you situated.

His signature says tuned by ZACK, i guarantee the rear o2 sensors are shut off. Call zack or marty and get their advise, might need a emissions tune???

If your weather is under 50* the Evap will not set. They know this and they will not require it if the temps are low enough.

Thanks fellas. I don't have rear 02 sensors anymore. Fairfax Co VA requires them as of the new year. Bungs and 02s and turning them back on is my only option...

Look in the Supporting Vendors Forum.

You can also install them, with bungs for the visual portion and still have it turned off in the tune. That way you don't have to have a "working" cat. converter.

The problem with that scenario is that some states, like MA, for instance, can detect if the rear O2s are turned off and you'll still get a fail.

I swore there was a simple adjustment in the tune to show they are on even if they aren’t.
