I am in need of a rear bumper which can be painted black. The only one I can find does not have Marauder on it. It is just plain. Any suggestions?

what's wrong with yours? I assume damaged, but many things can be fixed at good bumper repair shop/autobody. they are obsolete from ford. They do get parted out and show up on ebay, craigslist, or a member that has some stashed may offer one up. they are hard to ship. you may need to take a roadtrip to get one.

My car was damaged in the hail storm we had here last March. After all dent repair they are basically reprinting the whole car. The front bumper was crazed and had over paint from a previous repair - so it is better to start with a new one and prime and paint. My repair/paint shop is telling me they are having a hard time getting the paint to ahere to the rear bumper. I guess age and cracking of the original paint is the problem. So they would prefer to start with a new one there, also. After all the paint is about 16 years old now.

Maybe what I should be asking is how hard is it to prepare the old bumper to accept a new paint job. And is the a good shop in the UpState of South Carolina one would recommend. Currently, I am using Smith & Childs.

used bumpers are generally $500 and up, i would imagine stripping the paint off and reprime and seal and bumpers need a flex agent added to the paint to keep it flexible or they crack

especially if previous paint is cracked and hazed, it needs removed.

Realistically if your auto body shop doesn't know how to recondition a vinyl bumper cover(since just about every car has them) find a different shop because the one your using will do it wrong.

Check with the S. Carolina Mustang clubs and see who they like.

You won’t find reproduction rear bumpers, and the reproduction fronts are thin plastic and shatter easily. Strip and paint the originals.

I know of ONE brand new, in the box, never painted, never installed OEM rear bumper.

The body shop that repaired my Marauder back in 2010 claimed that I got THE last OEM bumper in the US inventory....all for only $1,400+.....

Probably a bargain compared to what one would go for now OEM never installed.

Tell your bodyshop to send the bumper out to a bumper repair place, they soda blast and prep and prime for less than 200

I also would find a new body shop because yours is filled with complete morons

Replacing a bumper cause the paint won't stick

I agree with the guys, find another shop...you might end up paying for it later. Not to long ago I bought a used OEM rear bumper cover. It had some damage but they patched it up, it can be done...

Update & Question
Visited the shop today - was somewhat of a mistake/miss communication. They were just doing a strip & repaint cost comparison to buying a new bumper and painting. They can and will strip and paint the original bumper. It will just cost more due to labor to strip, prime, sand and etc. which they would not have to do with a replacement.
The question -- I searched the web and found Prestigebumper.com out of Chicago. The say they have Marauder front and rear bumper, rear currently out of stock ( have sent an email asking when they will be back in stock).
Has anybody used Pestige or hear of them?

It wont be back in stock. No one makes them with the MARAUDER embossed in the bumper.

I have heard good things about them from the locals but I am guessing they will only have one next time they are able to jump on one from a local yard. As other's have said they are not made anymore

I am working with a ford dealer with a great body shop. George Ballentine Ford, located Greenwood, SC. 29648. Body Shop manager is Alan, Phone 864-223-6658. Told him your concern and he said no problem. They have a DTR Marauder in the shop now getting a complete repaint down to bare metal and refinished. Recommend to give him a call. Russ

Thanks Russ
Will add them to my contact list for the future.

Thanks to all who replied. My body shop is stripping the rear bumper and priming and re-painting. I looked over the car and the have do good work on the hood, roof and rear quarter panels. They are ordering a new trunk deck.
So, I am going to close this one out. But open a new one for a front bumper.
I do appreciate all the input from everyone.
