Hi,
My car is still in winter storage and it would be helpful to have the paint code to help with some part powder coating.

Thanks,
Jay

You think I am getting old? I should remember the color after all these years.

it's actually dark blue pearl, and most of the ford certificates are wrong.

I am unmanned. I thought I was a car guy and it turns out I don't even know what color my car is...

Don't feel bad, Ford cant even get it right lol. I have the mercury dealer's book with the full page color sample and its definitely Dark Blue Pearl (DX)... The DX color code changed over the years and I believe the formula even changed during the model year so you will probably need your build date.

The formula is the formula, build dates are usually not part of the equation. DX, like most colors, has some variants added over time. This is why a sample off the car must be used and compared with the colors in the color deck. A Spray-out from the chosen variant is then again compared with the sample off the car. Adjustments are then made if necessary to bring the color around.

Don't forget the razor blades to get the overspray off the windows.

Normally I would agree with that, but there was two different listings for a blue grille from ford, one before and after a certain date. I can’t think of any reason why there would be two options other than color match.

Usually differences are not that substantial to have that kind of a detail. Without knowing more about that specific color, I can only speculate. At car shows has anyone ever noticed differences between 2 or more blue Marauders?

No, but I have noticed a slight difference in 2 DTR's. One was more red, and the other was a raspberry, I liked the raspberry better.

When my car was repaired a few years back I think there was four paint variations for DBP

Individual sprayouts would have to be done with each color variant, and compared side by side to pinpoint the differences.
