The biggest complaint I have against the Marauder, is the seats. I'm used to the seats in my Supercoupe, which have DEEP side bolsters.

Has anybody here found a place to get comfortable racing type buckets that fit the Marauder?

Gee, I really like the seats myself. But sorry, I can't answer your question. Just my 2 cents.....

I had 98 mark VIII and Very supportive, I do miss. MM seats fine but not much side boost. Do a search on the forum, I remeber it was disscused , About a year or so ago. Hope this helps

You could always go to an upholsterer and have them re-pad the seats, and add more padding to the bolsters.

check the old forums, best bet would be do get seats from another car like the SHO but then you'd have to spend the money on matching the material.

If you drive the MM like a GM you don't worry about the side bolsters as you don't slide around so much!
These Grand Marquis' are meant for 45mph, max, in the passing lane, don't you know. By gum these young whipper snappers theses days and their go fast cars.

The leather seats in my 99 SHO are wonderful.

I've driven from MN to MA twice and several trips to from MN to MI and MO and OK...lots of 5-10 hour shifts behind the wheel.

Also...I've tracked my SHO on road courses and autocrosses. The SHO seats are one of its true positives.

I wish my MM seat would go lower. Don't forget about the side air bags on our front seats. Would repalcing them cause some difficulty with the remainder of the airbag system?

The late-model SHO seats are first class! I love them. Now you've all got me wondering... hmmm...

A thought. Keep the same seat but just have a custom shop redo the side supports. Re-stitch the leather some how add more padding? Maybe! Any more ideas on this? I bet cheaper than a whole new seat!

I agree Bill, is there any way we can make the seat go any lower? Kinda tough on us tall folks.

You gotta remember that the SIDE AIR BAGS are located in the side
of our seats, facing the doors.

You lose the seats, you lose the side air bags...

Gemmdiver - I'm, 6'5" and have NO problem with the interior sizes or the positions of the seat. How tall are you, 7'4"??

All kidding aside, I have a set way of positioning my seat in my MM and CVPI. Rear of seat goes all the way down, front goes all the way up, seat-back goes all the way foward and then a tad back. This provides me with plenty of thigh support and keeps my back nice and straight... I find this position best for high-performance driving. Keeps me planted in the seat and I'm not sliding all around.

Gemmdiver I've looked at the structure of our seats and I'm afraid that the only way to lower them would be to cut a hole in the floor!

I don't think Ford/Mercury did a lot of planning when they designed our seats for our MM's

I'm with you! At 6'6" / 270, I use the same position (maybe I have the seatback tilted, a little bit more). Leg room is great, and I have as much head room as I've ever had, in any other vehicle (car, or truck).

Thats one of the reasons I purchaced an MM at 6'6+ not many choices.the problem with side wings on the seats is they don't allow easy entry +exit the other is look at the wear + tear on any 3+year old car with them. the last reason is what if you grow wider than the seats then your

Does anyone know how I can get the back side of the driver's seat to come forward more than it is? In other words, I want to tilt the back side forward more.

In other words, I want to tilt the back side forward more.the only way I know is to tilt the base of the seat by twisting the seat switch on the door clockwise and the power tilt seat back, to the right.

What they said ^^^^.

After driving a Grand Marq rental for a few days on a business trip, I was amazed on how well bolstered the MM seats are in comparison. Made me miss her even more.

I'm 6'2" and 270-something. Finally something off the rack for us "big & tall" guys!

Seriously though, if you find yourself slipping around in a spirited romp, try an old Autocross trick: Find a nice and tight position for the seat belt clip and just before clicking in, twist the clip a few times then click it. That'll hold you in.

Did this really help you John or doesn't the seat adjust far enough to be comfortable for you?

I haven't tried your tip yet. I'll talk to my dealer to see if he can do it.
I don't have the time since I run a capital equipment business which has been depressed for a few years.

I'm only 5' 7" and may like to have the top of the backside of the seat to be tilted forward more than it is now. I have it set forward as far as it goes now. It is probably just right now but it is nice to see if it felt better if it were tilted more forward. Even though it is nice to have it, the pain of getting there is probably not worth it. It's not the squeaky wheel phenomenon.

At 6'6" and 230....sounds like I won't have a problem fitting into a MM :D

Good to know...!

I'm 6'4" and once I'm in it's great! Just getting in I have to lower my chin to miss the roof. Not a biggie for a great car like this!

I had a 97 and 98 Taurus SHO, and they had the best seats I ever experienced in a Ford product. However, the Marauder has the second best seats in a Ford product I ever experienced, including the bolsters! Just deflate the lumbar a little, and the bolsters hug really nice (if you have a 40 inch or greater waistline!)
