Cruising home the other night after an appointment. Noticed a fog in the rear view mirror. I thought it was a low pressure weather condition. Moments later I realized it was my transmission. I then limped it 1/4 mi. to a local trans shop. Always had fluid & filter serviced every 20,000 miles. I think I blew a seal ?

Where is it leaking from?

The bottom and rear of the car will be just soaked with transmission fluid if you were moving. The only seals you have are front and rear and they only leak at a small area. A leaking cooler line will spray like that since it's directly connected to the pump. I'd say have the leak pinpointed and fixed, fill it with Mercon V and try to drive it again.

No clue were the leak is from. It was dark night time. Will know more when I get a report from trans shop.

From My experience, they are gonna tell You that You need a full rebuild for $1500+ probably.

Same. Never any honesty in trans shops.. And every time I end up figuring out the failure and fixing it myself for next to nothing.

I did get the Marauder back. Now with a rebuild transmission new stock convertor. After 1000 miles it will be going back to the shop. Symptoms 1st ten mins of drive trans skips/slips 3rd gear, TQ convertor slight shudder almost like I never changed trans fluid. Also noticed slip happened at 70mph on a few occasions after warm up. Any Ideas what problem might be ?

Could probably have Marty adjust it in the tune. He's adjusted mine a handful of times, stock trans. It's perfect right now.

If you need trans work you'd be crazy to not talk to (Eric) 88Grandmarq.

Honest guy, awesome transmissions....

A tune would rectify TQ shudder but would not fix the skip/slip that is present.

Where is Eric 88Grandmarq ?

Shoot him a PM. He's a member here and knows more about these transmissions than anyone I've ever met.

That doesn’t sound good, something isn’t right with the rebuild.

I'm reminded of the C4 rebuild on my 1st car, a 1966 Fairlane 289 A code 4V. AAMCO shop within walking distance of my apartment. Worked with the manager when we both worked at a local Ford dealer previously. Shifted strangely - sold car to fellow co-worker who was smitten by the paint job and alloy wheels....

As simple as this transmission is, it amazes me how most transmission shops manage to mess it... throwing a rebuild kit at it doesnt solve anything if you dont fix the pressure leaks caused by the factory parts that normally wear.
