Driving to work today I was stopped at a red light. Guy texting runs into me. My bumper has a broken mounting point and is all scratched/cracked. My insurance company set me up with an appointment at a body shop. It looks like it has good reviews, but I want to make sure it's done right. Where can I go or tell them to go for a quality replacement if it's needed?

rear covers are obsolete, if it is not all torn to shreds, most are repairable..Some members here have used spares, they may or may not offer to sell..Have large $$ avail.

Post pics of the bumper that would help for the guys to assess. I just saw a rear bumper cover go for $475.00 plus $200ish in shipping on Ebay. See what the body shop thinks.

Now your car has a strike against it, i would sue for diminished value too.
Most likely it is repairable, see what the shop says and do not go with aftermarket.
How bad did he hit you? Were the tips bent or the welds cracked on the exhaust?

Your bumper might be repairable. How bad is it? Pics

Hey dudes. He didn't hit me terribly, but **** man it's all scuffed and cracked now. Check out the pics, I know it's tough to see. More than likely I can get away with a repaint and epoxy the mounting tab back together.

paint needs stripped, flex agent added to new paint. the paint cracks when flexed like inba fender bender. looks fixable in pics.

^^^^^:agree:^^^^^ You my friend dodged a big one! Can you leave the bumper covers bending inward while their in storage? I know their vinyl and takes up a lot of space in the garage and by bending them frees up space. Am I damaging them by doing so??

Looks to be pretty minor as long as there is no damage behind the cover - keep us posted. I'm reading where many Marauder body items are unobtanium.

I would not leave them bent for storage.
Mine are stacked inline on the floor upside down and supports on the ends to keep the floppyness to a minimum

On a scale of 1 to 10, that's a 2 to fix.

Flex agent reduces over time, when repairing a bumper, filler, primer, and clear should be kept to a minimum as to avoid excessive mill thickness. If flex agent is used, it mostly needs to be in the primer, most clears are already flexible from the the manufacturer.

I know its a bummer, but that isn't even a flesh wound. Easy fix as others have said.

Good to hear the comments. I already got an appointment in the am at a body shop set up by USAA. Since it's not my fault I should be leaving this with a nice looking bumper again. I may see if they can paint a fender while I'm there too. My driver's side is rusting and I have a lead on a decent one from a junkyard 2007 crown Vic. Will keep you posted.

Thats an easy fix. But, if you want one I have 3-4 good ones for various prices based on quality that I can deliver to carlisle in June.

Thank you guys so much for the offers. We have a good community here. Body shop says it's easily fixed. I didn't notice my spoiler is a little jacked up too. Anyway, $1100 damages. I'm not paying it, but I'm glad it's getting fixed. While it's there I'm going to have them paint a replacement fender because mine is rusted. I'm trying to source one that is in good shape. Junkyards are sketchy. Anyone have a lead on a driver's fender in the NJ/PA area?

Only that the fender lip is not rolled is difference

Non-issue for any body shop that knows what they're doing. Urethane bumpers can even be welded/patched to as good as new. The only kind of repairs that are a mess are those that are missing large chunks or have a lot of stretch and distortion to the base material over a large area. Yours looks as good as they come out of the box when replacing them...it just needs to be stripped and refinished.

Easily fixed but you will need a new set of letters. Don't let the body shop forget about them, be sure to give them the contact info for the ssinserts.

98-02 Grand Marquis fenders have a different corner lamp that won’t work with a Marauder.

T Masters in hammonton. (I've moved further down 73 from last we spoke) The only thing I'm a little annoyed about is when I push one side of my spoiler it can be moved the tiniest bit but the other side it doesn't move at all.
On the other side of things USAA was a breeze to deal with. They made it super easy.
