What is the total capacity of brake fluid required for flush brakes including reservoir ?

A quart is plenty.

Upon brake inspection I still have plenty of pad material left. So I decided to disassemble clean & grease caliper pins and slides. Then I moved on to changing the brake fluid. I used less than expected. Couldn't believe how dirty the fluid was 97,000 miles apparently previous owner had never flushed the system. I will use the rest to flush power steering unit. Hardest part of the job was having to ask the wife to work the brake pedal for all of ten minutes. but that's the brakes.

DO NOT use brake fluid in the Power Steering system.......Use Mercon V transmission fluid!!:shake:

I run several Auto Cross events each year and I freshen my brake fluid once per year. I siphon out as much brake fluid as I can from the reservoir then re-fill it with fresh fluid. Then I just open the bleeder screw on each caliper letting them drip until I'm sure new fluid is run through the lines. I refill the reservoir making sure it never gets too low.

Any feedback on using Peak products? I see their antifreeze everywhere but I also sometimes see they have Peak brake fluid and oil at Walgreens. I try to get Peak since its made in USA.

As long as the brake fluid meets the Ford / DOT3 spec you can use it.

I will switch out fluid for proper Mercon V in power steering. tks.

I just use a DOT 4 brake fluid from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Never had a problem with it.
