Leaving home last night I walk to the parking lot and found my rear window busted. Pissed to say the least. It looks like someone shot it with a bb gun and it shattered. As soon as I move the car, most of it just fell in. Made the police report, blah blah blah. Call allstate and I'm waiting to find out if I'm covered by the comprehensive. I called a few places to see what it would cost to replace it out of pocket depending on what allstate would say. Can you belive I got prices upwards of 900 dollars!! I almost passed out. I know the defroster etc. runs inside the glass but thats insane. Got the call back from allstate and its completely covered. They made arrangements to have it done by a mobile installer and as requested I'll will get factory glass. I dont know if I should be happy its covered or brace myself for the comming rate increase. At any rate I am happy that it got fixed with a minimal amount of hassel. Now i just have to find my bb shooting friend and show him what a 12ga. slug looks like up close. Requesting in advance help with my bail money, thanks. REDDOG

I hope it works out. Make sure that they install the window gasket properly. Mine is not quite straight across the top and it is not sealed properly across the bottom. They are going to have to redo it.
You will have to ask them to provide a new gasket too.

Man sorry to hear the bad news Frank, I think you should let the punk "play" with your dog for a while. That should teach him a lesson.

BTW, your radio antenna is part of that rear window too. If this ends up to where it will come out of your pocket, we have a member here that has the rear glass from a totalled MM.
Just my .02 and then some.

I had a side window break on a van, list $1,000.12. I asked them how they came up w/ the 12 cents.
Best rpice was $675.
Went to a "junk yard", they ordered it, got it 3 days latter, $89.

Reddog-
Sorry to hear about your window. I don't blame you for being really pissed.
About the insurance rate aspect, I've always been told by insurance folks that rates don't go up on claims for damage while a car is parked, as opposed to when someone is behind the wheel (unless, of course, there is a claim every other week). Hopefully that is true.

Thanks 4 the concern guys. As it turns out Allstate covered the glass and I dont have to pay a dime, atleast not yet. The installer came to the lot and replaced the glass right there. It proably took about 45 mins. to complete. They say the glass is so exspensive because you can only get it from ford. I'm in the wrong line of work, what a racket. Looks good as new. I took pictures of the install and will post them under " what the hell". Thanks again, REDDOG.
