Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but does anyone know what happened to the 30 Marauders the Florida Highway Patrol had? I know it's been awhile, but I hope at least a few of them found good homes.

I know of one, a friend of mine owns it.

I thought, could be wrong, that the buyer stipulated he was to receive them when they were retired.

I had no idea Marauder's were actually used as patrol cars! Found a few pictures:

http://www.sspmustang.org/gallery6.htm

Now I'm curious to see if they were ever utilized as police cars in Canada.

The FL Marauder patrolcars were donated, not purchased

From what I remember, a number of them were popping up on ebay I guess from the guy who originally loaned them to FHP when they were being retired from FHP. Most here said don't touch them with a 10 foot pole due to miles and abuse but "restore em, don't crush em" was my motto. I hope some of them did get scooped up and found loving homes. They sure got more history than just being a Marauder. May they live long.

I remember a meet way back in the day.

Almost all of them showed up at a meet at Markam park in West Broward.

Some years later a friend (MMBLUE) won a pic of the meet at a carshow and gave it to me. I have it on display still.

Someone posted this picture on a SVT Lightning page I follow on FB. Caption mentioned the same person owns all the cars pictured minus the CTSV. He is moving from Florida to Michigan.

I noticed in the pictures on the website I posted earlier the FHP cars had a Cobra emblem placed similar to the car pictured below... Could it be one of the FHP cars?

ALL FHP cars had the emblem on them. DR put them there. DR did all the work on them tune, lights etc. When they were slowly getting released years back. A bunch of them were showing up at low buck buy here pay here dealerships and on C/L in south Florida area. Every now and then I'll see one pop up on C/L when browsing south Florida C/L. The emblem gives it away as well as interior pictures with holes in center counsel and two usually near the dash clock for the mic.

I spoke to a FHP one day who had one and he said they had to take them out of service when they hit 100K. His had 80ish when we spoke. He said he never wants to get rid of it and purposely doesn't drive it anywhere as to not put on the miles.

Anyhow, the MM's were turned in at 100K and striped of the lights etc and sent back to the owner.

Putnam County Indiana had used some and I suppose by now that have been retired.
Our Marion Co. Sheriff's Dept had one that was confiscated during a drug raid.

The last FHP Marauder I seen was at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville a couple years back. It was pretty beat up. I do know that Fernandina Beach PD has a Marauder. They usually have it displayed at the 8-flags car show in October. If I see it this year I'll take a pic and post it.

I'm 99% sure this was a FHP car. It even has a reverse tone when backing up. Haha, My friend owns it. Bought from an Acura dealer in Pompano Beach, FL in 2006.

Okay I own Peter's personal car. He was the millionaire that bought all. The Mercury Marauder for the Florida Highway Patrol. I got his personal 04 DTR. I bought it off the second owner. With 7k original miles. And he is the Captian of the FHP and his name is Roger. I bought it off him. He bought it off of Peter's son. When he passed away. Of a heart attack. Dennis Reinhart did the work on all those MM. And it was said Peter bought all those MM. And they were all to go back too him. When they hit 100k in miles. But he passed away. His son sold all or most of Peter's cars. So when I bought Peter's personal DTR. It had a Dynamic aluminum driveshaft. A Addco rear seat bar. And a Dennis Reinhart 91 octane tune. I also got the FHP truck organizer. A FHP MM jacket. The MM Leather Jacket. And two FHP Polo golf T-shirts. So that is what I heard from Dennis Reinhart. When I called him up. As soon as I bought my DTR. As soon as Realiable Carriers dropped it off. From Fort Lauderdale FL. To my house in the Bronx NY. So that is my input on this thread. That alot of people didn't know about. The man Peter. That bought all those MM for the FHP. Or knew he had a personal 04 DTR. But I own it. And ask Dennis Reinhart. If I don't own Peter's personal 04 DTR. Oh and Roger removed all the FHP lights. That were on Peter's DTR. He just left the Strobe lights on my car. And the car has a ADTR.NET stage 2 Supercharger kit. And CHP upper and lower control arms. And CHE Watt link arms. And a Addco front away bar. Ford racing 60lbs injectors a Aeromotive 340lph fuel pump. A Vortech boost a pump fuel pump. A Accufab throttle body. A chrome 255 amp alternator. And a custom $7k sound system. 20 inch Foose Nitrous wheels. Also have the factory 18 inch wheels. And a set of factory 18 wheels in black powder coated. That have the rear wheel widen. That I have not gotten to put tires on then yet.

Some years later a friend (MMBLUE) won a pic of the meet at a carshow and gave it to me. I have it on display still. The meets at Markham Park were S.S.M. Yearly Picnic's. We had at that time a average of 38-40 Marauders show up. The F.H.P. Marauders were invited. The F.H.P. Marauder's in Broward home base was just about 1/2 mile down the road from Markham Park. I believe only 2 F.H.P. Marauder's showed up for a short time. The F.H.P. Marauder troopers from time to time use to show up at The Tower Shops Meets in Davie. They were also put in our yearly Calenders. Nice bunch of guys. Their was a Trooper named Gary who use to buy them ,fix them up and re sell them too. RoyLpita and my self have been to his home back them. Nice Guy. Just thought some of you would like just a little history of back then.

There was at least one, was told there were a few more Marauder's used in the Sacramento Police Force. Unmarked, but with the mounted hidden lights and interior computer stand.

Saw one in parking lot, LEO dressed in jeans and dress shirt, and was talking to him for only a minute or so. He said he loved the car... But then he got a call and had to roll out mid sentence.

Saw the same car (?) a few times over a three year period.

Dennis Reinhart, Reinhart Automotive, Orange Park, Florida (http://www.reinhartautomotive.com), recently completed dramatic modifications on 27 new 2004 Mercury Marauders for the Florida Highway Patrol, transforming the family cars into high-performance, unmarked pursuit vehicle muscle cars capable of sustaining speeds up to 150 mph. The FHP's new fleet of stealth vehicles is the agency's highest profile enforcement tool to deter and apprehend aggressive drivers (http://www.fhp.state.fl.us).

Reinhart's 20-year reputation for custom, high-performance work among automotive dealers in the Ft. Lauderdale area caught the attention of the FHP in late 2004 when it was looking to empower its aggressive driving program with covert pursuit vehicles capable of maintaining the top speeds of aggressive highway drivers and their supercharged cars.

Reinhart's modifications include: upper engine cooling, upgrades to front brake rotors and installation of KVR carbon fiber brake pads on all four wheels to increase brake stopping abilities and prevent pedal fade; SCT Super Chips Custom Tuning to remove the top speed limiter and allow additional horsepower; installation of Dynotech Composite Metal Matrix Drive Shafts with special lubrication, spun balanced to more than 6000 rpm, to allow sustained speeds of 150 mph without vibration; installation of ADDCO rear sway bars to enhance high speed stability and limit body roll; and replacement of stock oil pressure gauges with completely functional Auto-Meter Gauges, which read from 0 to 80 pounds, and alert drivers to premature oil failure.

The fleet took to the Florida highways in January 2005 also equipped with tinted windows, digital radars, covert lighting packages and state-of-the-art audio/video recording systems. Each FHP officer assigned to a Marauder, now sporting 270+ rear-wheel horsepower (a 20+ percent increase from stock horsepower), was hand-picked to drive the vehicle, and completed a 3-day training class at the FHP training facility in Tallahassee.

I had no idea Marauder's were actually used as patrol cars! Found a few pictures:

http://www.sspmustang.org/gallery6.htm

Now I'm curious to see if they were ever utilized as police cars in Canada.

I took a few of those photos, and some of the full time and FHPA guys sent me the others. The ones with the SB on I-95 were a pretty cool shot, and the Trooper himself took those.

Unfortunately, several of these including the DTR assigned to Troop C HQ Tampa got wrecked. I'm not sure if they were sent thru Tampa Machinery auction where all the surplus vehicles were auctioned off or returned to the individual who initially donated them.
