Hey guys/girls.

Recently I was on a two hour road trip and noticed my battery light coming on. Sure enough the longer I drove, the more drained the battery became. Luckily I was close to an auto parts store and had the battery checked and got a new one. They said the battery was bad. On the way home the battery light came on again but was able to make it the rest of the way in. Had the alternator checked and it was showing bad. So I of course got a new one and installed it today with a new belt. Guess what.....the battery light is still on. What else could be the problem? Thanks

check cables for corrosion especially just after battery clamps under the wire coating, check for loose connections at Alternator and cable corrosion, make sure grounds are good. Any green on copper wiring is bad. Did you get right alternator. some places sell you a crown vic, grand marquis one and they are not the same..Marauders use a 4G alternator

Most auto parts stores' computers think the Marauder is just a tarted-up Grand Marquis and don't have the correct listing for a Marauder. The voltage regulators are different.

This is exactly what's happening to my SB. Replaced the battery and alternator and voltage is still reading ~11.3 on my Scan Gauge.

Headed out to check cables now.... :-(

Check the resistance of the negative cables... in fact check the resistance of both + & - cables. Negative cables have a tenancy of corroding where you can't see it.

In the OP's case I think the new alternator is the wrong one.

I believe the regulator color lets you know.
