I like the Marauder still gets attention this many years later. also like they showed the trilogy supercharger set up! I've always been crazy about a Mercury and I love to cruise up and down the Road.

Great Article! Interesting factoids and information. If only ford had looked further into the factory supercharged option.

Factory S/C 4.6 SOHC with a $29,995. starting price? Mercury would have hit their sales goals IMO.

Well that was a good article to read no doubt. Pretty cool after all these years that this odd ball car that hardly anyone knows about still attracts some attention.

Sent from the White House on the tax payers dime.

Great article Mary. I saw a Marauder on the way to work this morning. Must've been an omen. I may drive mine now Thursday or Friday!

Yep....

"The 2003 Marauder started at $34,495, including delivery, but Babcock says the sticker was originally planned to be $29,500.
The marketing director, he recalls, accepted advice from some dealers that a higher price would help the Marauder compete with upscale imported sport sedans. “But that wasn’t our customer,” he says.

The price became an obstacle."

Interesting how Mercury had to add rebates and incentives to sell Marauders.....:hmmm:
I bought mine right at $30,000.

The stealers, always looking for the $$$, handed Elena Ford a loaded gun pointed at Mercury's (Gods)head.
She pulled the trigger.

" The brand, he explained, would focus on attracting more women."

By gosh didn't woman flock to Mercury dealerships, lining up to buy Mariners and jelly bean Cougars!
Worked out great didn't it!?

Great read Mary!
Thanks for supplying the info to help the writer get all the facts correct.

they used the wrong parts bin.......the cobra(Terminator) motor would have been a better choice, price was too steep for what you were getting....just sayin

Yes it would have. and just think when the SRT model Chargers and 300 came out the marauder would beat it then people would have been racing to Mercury to buy more supercharged Marauders!

I asked Steve about this at MV9 and he said it would have been a great choice since the 5.0l pushrod motor was eliminated as a choice. To get the '03 Terminator they would have had to delay the Marauders launch date as the '03 Cobra motor was still in it's finally testing. Elena :witch: and Kevin  were already looking to pull the plug on the Marauder so it was a timing issue.

Every Marauder I looked at had been sitting for awhile and the dealers would jump at $30k if offered. Unfortunately, my finances wouldn't allow for another vehicle in the stable at the time. At that point, I owned a '98 Mustang GT, 2001 Ranger 4.0L Supercab and a 2001 Triumph ST motorcycle.
