:stupid: actually aluminum, I think

the first to see it will be at Prestige Lincoln-Mercury
in Skokie, IL Sunday afternoon

UNBELIEVABLE

transforms the car into auto show prototype territory...

just WAIT until I figure out how to post THUMBNAIL PHOTOS here
they are coming...

oh...and Logan...how much would this Gator Shop in Crestwood
have to pay to become vendors here?

This is the SINGLE MOST SATISFYING MOD I have done to the MM
second would be the ss inserts

third would be the....hmmmmmm I AM still waiting for my thousands of dollars
worth of mods to put a smile on my face...but I REALLY need a supercharger
and/or a bigger displacement engine...

too bad you aren't close to Chicago...

attachments and I never got along, but I PROMISE to post it in a day or two

what I can say so far...

the guy who did it is a PERFECTIONIST
(and I consider myself one and call almost noone that)

he went out of his way to get THE Cadillac CTS-V mesh material

he did only the main grille not the lower bumper intake...my choice...think it looks RIGHT that way...

also...DETAILS DETAILS

the car looks like I snuck it out of an auto show...the custom shop went out of their way to RECESS the GOD's HEAD deep into the center of the grille

I almost want to bring a chair to the garage and just stare
(I MEAN THAT!)

this IMHO is a MUST DO modification

change the headlights from two rectangular blacked out headlights to four round blacked out headlights perhaps by retrofiting EURO PROJECTOR headlights into the OEM MM headlights (but there are DOT and insurance ISSUES)...perhaps even modifying Lincoln LS headlights into the current MM housing...

but NOW I think I don't need to...

(all this while watching HORSEPOWER TV on SPIKE...and hearing FLITZ tell me I didn't have to spend $300 on my old Grand Marquis' weathered headlights...)

the STAINLESS STEEL (er, perhaps ALUMINUM) MESH is EXACTLY what the stop and stare doctor ordered...it confirms MM headturner status

I SUPERCHARGED MY GRILLE!!!!!!!!!

I'll definitely be looking into a badgeless grill.

Inquiring minds want pics! :)

mmmmmmarauder
06-13-2004, 09:02 AM
I really liked the badgeless grille concept
but I had personal reasons for moving away
from any part of the car that REMOTELY
resembles a Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis...

understand I date DITZY women who say...
"Oh, my grandfather has this car..." (ARGHHHH)

The MESH GRILLE is exactly what the design doctor ordered
UNDER $1000 !!!

I am waiting for the vendor to make a deal with LOGAN
before I talk about who this is and say WHAT AN INCREDIBLE
JOB he did...

It is 11:00 A.M. Sunday morning and in about half an hour
I will be on my way to Prestige Lincoln Mercury
in Skokie, IL for the 10-4 Marauder meet/show

The grille puts the MM in AUTO SHOW territory...in the good
company of Bentleys and Jaguars
and YES it looks VERY OEM albeit very exclusive/special addition

hell...right now...it is absolutely the best looking car Ford makes
BAR NONE...the original grille was OK
the HOCKEY STICK LOGOS HAD TO GO (replaced w/GOD's HEAD wheel centers)
and
the stainless steel inserts
gave it JUST ENOUGH mystery and intrigue
to make it a SUPERCAR

Peter
greekchicago@hotmail.com

in other words, the MESH GRILLE is the most satisfying addition
I have ever made to any vehicle...and you are talking to someone
who was $20,000 away from buying the ORIGINAL TV SHOW BAT MOBILE
from an auto auction years ago...
then again,
I spent WAY TOO MUCH on the 1979 midnight blue Collector's Series
but I still think that was a HELL OF A GOOD LOOKING CAR!!!:stupid:

mmmmmmarauder
06-13-2004, 02:05 PM
in Skokie...

I was there...my first car show (that I was in)
glad it didn't rain...cause I am kinda JINX :shot:

some really liked the mesh grille
others like the conventional look

some great advice was given
felt a REAL CAMRADRY (so spelled wrong)
comradry?

anyway we felt a sense of BELONGING
a common goal to :uzi: RICERS

The grille photos are coming WHEN I GET SOMEONE to help me
post them...I am sure some well intentioned member will go through
the fifty steps necessary...go to start menu, access the third level of tools,
install internet options, blah blah blah...but I can find a GEEK to help me
no worries

I STILL WHOLEHEARTEDLY RECOMMEND THE MESH GRILLE

I think...

I guess Texas is too far to drive to Chicago
even with a supercharger

but you would have fun at Prestige Lincoln Mercury in Skokie, IL

many of the "big names" from here were there...SGTMAC, Zack, and others
lots of rumble INCLUDING a MUFFLER DELETE option :bounce: and burnouts

we were graced with a few supercharged cars destined to be COLLECTOR's
some amazing ideas for mods/decals/emblems/stickers/add-ons...

I was the only one with a mesh grille (I have the GOD's HEAD pressed into the center of the mesh ala CADDY CTS-V indentation)...although there were a few chrome GM grilles and badgeless variations also...

When you get/see the photos I was wondering if you think the lower air intake (bumper portion) should also have the mesh? Right now I am leaning towards leaving the lower intake as is and keeping the mesh in the grille only

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

oh yeah (SEND THE PHOTO!)

Peter

Pete, just hit the "reply" button like you would ordinarily to add a post, type what you briefly want to say in the post window, and then when you scroll down a bit on your browser window, you'll see that there is an "additional options" window below the post window. click on the grey "Manage Attachments" button that's in that "Additional options" window. Then you'll see another window pop up that has a "Browse" button in it. Click on the "Browse" button and another window will appear that lists the "Documents" in your computer. click on the one that has the pic of the grille, and then hit the "save" button. Then that window will disappear, and you'll still see that other window that has the "Browse" button, however now you'll see that in the window bar next to that "Browse" button there will now be the file listing for that pic. So then simply click on the "Upload" button that you'll also see, and wait for the pic to be uploaded. Once it is, then simply close that window, and you'll notice that directly underneath the "Manage Attachments" button, the file name of the pic that you've just uploaded appears.

So then you'll be good to go. Simply hit the "Submit Reply" button like you ordinarily would do to post, and you're all set. And BTW, if you ever do get a Supercharger for your Marauder, you won't need more displacement. Trust me on that. You'll have a 12 second machine that will go 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds even with the street tires!!!!

when they get posted, let me know if you think the lower intake should be in mesh also...except I kinda like the look the way it is...

Prestige Lincoln Mercury was alot of fun and some of you saw it there
I got to meet some of the legends of the websites and several Marauders
that could beat me by two seconds or more...

OK back to work...

I made that grill.
The one MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMrauder made is still stainless steel color and the mesh (woven wire cloth) is tightly strung together. Almost looks like a solid sheet of metal from far away.

Gator guy RON was supposed to post the photos for me by now

The grille in the photo currently posted is OK, but I wanted an
OEM look that Jaguar and Cadillac (and Bentley!) uses...

His username is GatorCustoms

I talked to him on the phone today and he said he would post it
could it be somewhere else LIKE GALLERIES?

swear there IS a grille
you guys saw it...
I am NOT going NUTS...

the grille IMHO is COOL AS HELL

HELL YEAH! to install the hardware...put in the CD...wait while the computer messes with you...click yes to ANYTHING...NEXT...FINISH...ten minutes later...it says...YOU MUST UNINSTALL OLD PRINTER SOFTWARE TO INSTALL THIS...so I jump through more hoops...and the old software AIN'T GOING NOWHERE...are computers only messing with me?

P.S. II THIS is why the photo hasn't been posted yet...GatorCustom was supposed to do it for me...cause I am LUCKY to find the internet:help:...

Thanks Logan and BillyGMan for help in posting the
photo...

I guess when you are Member Number ONE it is easier
to make full size copies of photos : )

I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the way the grille makes
the MM stand out from the crowd...and let's face it

NOONE buys a Marauder to blend into the crowd!
ahead of it perhaps...

The God's Head (wheel center), $25 from Ray Jermyn (AKA dealer),
was a personal choice...it may have looked more BADa$$ without
it, but I feel the logo (along with the fact that it is embedded
into the plane of the flat grille) makes it look more factory...

anyone with cash can buy a fancy grille out of a catalog
but this was custom midwestern craftsmanship that makes
people wonder what is that car...a very special edition from FoMoCo perhaps.

I GOTTA KNOW...

What do you think about the install/mod?

The quality up close makes you think it is a Jaguar/Cadillac...

Peter
greekchicago@hotmail.com

short survey...

Would you do this to your MM?
Is it an improvement?
Does it add status/prestige/intrigue (oh that's an Olds...)/mystaque (nevermind)?
Would you mesh the lower intake/bumper area?
GOD's HEAD yes or no? Was indenting it into the mesh a good idea?

Is MMMMMMarauder crazy or generally on the right track?
Yes, I am also into normally aspirated performance mods...around $6K

The Jaguar grill looks stronger than the one done by Zack. But like others have mentioned they would love it black and without the emblem on it. The silver looks good and it brings out the chrome on the MM. To each its own!

I really like that grill  The only 2 things are 1 without the indentation and 2 the godhead inside the round mercury part as well .But that grill is fresh!!! I mean def..

I agree, but that depends on your desire for bling. I'm personally going the other way "black stealth". I think if you like bling you will really like the grill, it changes as the car moves because of the reflection. They ceetainly did a great job and the mesh underneath may look cool too.

The woven mesh looks good. The recessed badge looks good. I'd like to see it with a little more contour personally, rather than just flat.

It is certainly distinctive and custom. That's part of what the Marauder is supposed to be about.

unixadm

I think the grille looks good. I also agree with someone else who thinks it should have a bit more contour outwards towards the front to look even more high end. I think the less recessed in it is, the better the look. You've gotten a lot of feedback, but people are interested in the cost, mesh strength, modification to the grille shell, production time, etc. A photo of the entire car would also help, instead of just the closeup.

The opinion that matters most is your own. It's obvious you're happy with it, so that's what counts.
