I remember awhile back the Sarge made a comment about how one timeslip does not the whole story tell; so it's raining, I'm bored and I decided to pull all my slips and do a little averaging to see what kind of consistency (if any) my car has at the track.
Here goes: Commerce, Ga. Nov/8/2003--Heavyweight Shootout, 5 runs. Temp: Low 60's-- Light rain on and off.
Avg. ET: 14.992 Avg. MPH: 94.49
Sidenote: First time in my life I officially drag raced.
Bradenton, Fl. Nov/29/2003 Test & Tune. 4 runs. Temp. low 60's, humidity about 55%
Avg. ET: 14.594 Avg. MPH: 96.80
Bradenton, Fl. April/4/2004 Test & Tune. 9 runs. Temp. High 70's Humid.
Avg. ET: 14.810 Avg. MPH: 95.34
All runs combined: ET: 14.798 MPH: 95.54
Sidenote: No changes were made to car from first to last run other than in Georgia all runs except last 2 were made with a trunk full of junk.

Well anytime a troll comes in and wants to uphold the C/D quartermile times...we'll link 'em to this!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
Those are awesome times.

Most of us don't frequent the race track every week nor even every month like some guys you meet at the track do. So you have to consider one thing. When you take that annual ride to the track to race your daily driver, or Luxury car, the first two to three runs will be simply an experiment. Not only w/your launching technique, but w/such things as what tire pressures to run at (both front and back tires).
my first pass yesterday resulted in considerable wheelspin that was completely and solely due to the back tire pressure being too high for a drag radial tire (25 PSI). So before the second pass I brought the pressures down to 22 PSI and there was barely any tire spin at all for the second and third runs, and both ET's were also within hundreths of a second from one another.
So in my case, there's no point in averaging in my first pass of 12.466 seconds simply because the only reason for that ET was merely because of overinflated tires, and had nothing to do w/the car's consistency nor even driver skills. That's why they're called "Time trials", and are held BEFORE "Eliminations".
If you want to average in the Eliminations ET's then that's fine as long as you had atleast two runs in before that to experiment a little. That especially applies to those of us who aren't really professional racers nor even amatuer ones since we're merely at the track once or twice per year to race our street cars. the ET averaging theory realistically only applies to those who race their car at the track frequently, and who know their cars pretty well when it comes to how they react on the race track.
If you don't believe that then simply talk to some serious amatuer racers about their cars when you go to the track and listen to all the details they get into describing their techniques and their results and you'll see what I mean about us being a whole different group.
Very true, Billy. It's like in golf...you can't calculate a handicap without SEVERAL rounds on the same course.
Too many variables...in fact...it makes it really hard to compare "car to car' due to the same variables. I guarantee that an 'experienced shoe" could have gotten you another couple of tenths or more the other night. No offense to you, but it's the reality of it.

Billy, it's still raining  Just wanted to see if there was anything interesting about the 18 slips. I like numbers....still I would trade all 18 of my slips...for one of yours.

I can frame it for you for a mere $39.99 plus shipping and handling. Hey, I have to offset the cost of the S/Cer somehow....

That's a good deal for framing, if it's professional and includes a hand cut mat.....:burnout:
