Would anybody be interested in setting up a trade category ? If someone had somthing I didn't necessarily want to sell but trade ....

I know square body meets and sites That do something like this and has worked out good .

Just talking out loud - input would be good

I foresee a lot of 'Go Fish' responses in this category.

There would have to be a way to set it up as only a list of “for trade” adds with only PM’s for communication. Not even the typical “PM sent” allowed. Basically moderated like the for sale threads.

This way keeps it as only one thread with adds and ZERO chatter to wade through. Otherwise it will turn into just another lengthy thread that nobody wants to read through like the Eaton swap thread.

No bumping unless editing for changes or sold.

I foresee a lot of 'Go Fish' responses in this category. Agreed.
I tend to think the FS/wanted section could suffice for threads like this anyway.

"Wanted: MM floormats. Willing to trade two MM wheels in good shape"

or everyone makes a single post, and is only able to edit their post. like a mini page.

What if a trader comes back with something else the person wanting to trade did't think about?

I like Bob's idea that's the best option. And, love the idea G22

For instance, I might value what I have differently than the trader. Honestly, I'd rather trade something worth more to an enthusiast and member. I have MM stuff and can't be bothered to put up FS but, I might trade for something I really want and don't care what I have of value to get it.

For instance, I really want some powered by Ford covers and would probably trade a bunch of stuff I got for it.

I’m open to the idea and I think Bob has the best suggestion. It is hard to weed through the chatter. If the existing sub categories were used, with a statement up front that it’s a trade, unless it’s moderated, the chatter would continue.

Talk it through a littl more here, but I think Bob has the best idea. All the details are handled off-line, directly between the parties.

Agree Mary ;)

One of the best ideas yet.

1. The person who put up the post must edit the post with the results and or outcome( agreed in terms of forum use).
2. Deals handled off forum via PM, email or phone.
3. Nothing for sale, just trade( possible cash thrown in, up to parties in trade negotiations)
4. NO responses to post accepted.

I would love to see all forums & websites with for sale sections - have specific trade sections.

Sometimes we have things that don't move as fast as others, maybe you have one or both parties short on extra cash etc etc.

Most of us have other stuff and interests as well outside of the MM world, so trades wouldn't necessarily have to be limited to car stuff either.

Anyone making a post would be free to be as specific as possible about what would be acceptable/not acceptable for trades etc.
