It's time for me to change tires on my 03 - and I was wondering what tires are the preferred type available these days?

Thanks in advance,
Keith

I run sumitomo up front, nitto on rear. Very happy with the mismatch brand.

I think you'll find most anything wears better than the BFG's.

+1 on Motivos

Are the BFGs still available?

I ran Nitto 555s....loved them.

I run the Nitto NT555-G2 255/45-18 on the front and the Nitto NT555 265/50-18 on the rear. The only problem is Nitto stopped producing the 265/50-18. Same overall diameter as the OEM BFG's.

No, but I believe a few places have leftover stock of the front tires still like SimpleTire

What brands are made in the USA?

My brother goes out of his way to get USA made tires for his cars. Any available for Marauder sizes?

Are Marauder tire sizes already obsolete? Or just the manufacturers mentioned here? Almost afraid to drive it now. In Florida long term due to 'family issues'. Going home later this week to check on my house, pick up my mail and return with my Marauder....

Sizes are not obsolete, just are not 50 choices for them, only a d all number of tire compsnies make stock sizes. The stock front size is very common with many choices, the stock rear is less common this why some mix and match brands

All tire companies have plants in third world countries, hard to say which are made here. Cooper tire based in Findlay, Ohio for exsmple

Ive been using firestone wide oval (now they do not make rears) and since that happened ive worked my way over to the firestone indy 500 summer tires.
used with 8.5-9 / 32 they sell on ebay for about 50 bucks each for fronts.

United tire on ebay had a bunch of new take off 235 50 18 for 110.00 for 2, so i bought a few sets and have them on 2 of my cars. What a awesome tire so far!!

Buy what ever tires you want, just dont buy walmart tires. CHEAP AND THIN!

Pirelli or Michelin are my first choice. Quality comfort wet dry high marks.

The OEM rear size is quickly becoming another TRX venture by Ford....:shake:

I still swear by my rear Nitto 420’s. Great traction wet or dry and I have well over 30,000 miles on them with SEVERAL miles of burnouts! They are all but bald now and wore 100% even across the tread.

As for the fronts I installed a set of Nitto 850+ a few years back and still have excellent tread, wearing even, and stops on a dime in wet weather. They were marketed for large European sport sedans. Unfortunately I don’t believe they make them anymore.

I was well pleased with wear/use of Nitto Motivo in stock sizes. They are made here in GA.

They really are but I work at my dads used tire shop and I had these in stock so I slapped them on. The car had nitro motivo in back and bf Goodrich comp 2 when I got it but I wanted to put on the Firestone’s since they all matched. They were used but had at least 90% tread all the way around.

The rear tire size is getting more popular so there is a lot more choice than there was even a few years ago. A Tire Rack search showed 40 matches on the staggered MM sizes with some of them being the best tires you can buy. My personal new favorite for best bang for your buck is the General G-Max AS-05. They're quiet, ride well and handle great rain or shine.

I bought Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires in the late spring. These were made in USA & I like them.
