I bought a pair of brand new Marauder Wheels and they are powdercoated a grey/silver instead of Chrome, are these 2004 wheels or is anyone making aftermarket stuff, I got them through a Ford Dealership but they were sent there by a wheel distributer. any thoughts?

My '04s are shiny.
Weren't the full size spares on unfinished rims?

These are powder coated a silver grey color, they are glossy and nice, just not chrome. They may be replacements from some company that offer an alternative to NOS parts

I know the 18 x 8 w/ 50 mm offset OEM wheels are forged & high polished - NOT CHROMED !! The early 2003 300a models had full size spares on painted silver wheels. I am not sure but I believe those are cast & not forged. The painted spare wheel did weigh more than the polished forged wheel that I replaced it with.

I had a set of grey w/polished lip wheels done....didn't like the color afterall. I have no idea how you ended up with powdercoated wheels....someone did it.....
If they have a rough surface, you got spares man! And that's not powdercoat.

There are only two wheels available. One, is the full-size spare from the early 300a's. Those are cast, unpolished wheel. The OEM wheel on marauder's is polished with a clear coat applied.
To my knowledge there's no powdercoated wheel available or has there ever been. I bet you were shipped the cast spare's by accident.
Post a pic if you can to confirm my suspicion.

Seeing is believing...and apparently you got one of lucky sets that got sprayed heavy. Or something? That's wierd. The cost to have a wheel powdercoated, including the inside is nearly $250.
So what are your plan with the two new grey wheels?

Split and widen, to handle the Cobra Motor, That Dennis will be installing. I already have a DR Vortech, 453HP to the rear wheels, someone else said it though, "Horsepower is addicting". I'm targeting 575HP, Must.... have..... more!!!. Hell I'm already 15 Grand over what I can get for it, might as well make it an all out major loss.

If it's being delivered by rail, you should make sure the dealer cleaned it up really well of any deposits or such.
Man, I know the feeling!

Mines, black, I'm not sure if they are S-55 wheels, but they came from a Ford dealership, they are stamped with the Ford emblem, I never heard anyone getting these powdercoated already straight from Ford, so who knows

No, the full size spares are forged as well. Just not prepared for polish.
