Serious coin for a well thought out and upgraded car.

Very nice 'Tribute' car...but, as you said: SERIOUS coin!
A friend of mine owns a concours restored 1965 Shelby GT350. (1 of 515 built)
He traded for it back in the late 70's with a neighbor of his who owned the Shelby and wanted my friend's T-bucket.
My friend's father gave him a bunch of crap about trading away his T-bucket for 'a beat up Rustang'.
When he finished the restoration about 10 years ago he insured the GT350 for a quarter million dollars.
Now I believe its valued at close to half a million.....

Whenever we talk about that trade, we laugh and he says:

Another 'Tribute' car from the same dealer, for much less coin. Three GT350 'Tribute' cars at this dealer at present.

I am not a fan of clones, even if you call it a “tribute”. I see it all the time with GTOs, especially Judges. As long as you don’t try to pass it off as the real thing I have no problem with it, certainly not my cup of tea however.

yeah, but when they were 10 years old, and I put a Shelby hood and trunk spoiler on a fastback, it was a fastback - with a hood and spoiler. Call it what you want, clone is wrong. That indicates recreating identical from original. Tribute, recreation or look a like is fair if you just added stuff to look / perform like the expensive car. Who wouldn't?
Same with GTO/Judge, SS Chevelle, Roadrunner.
Don't mess with the VIN or lie about it, the car is just a car.
Big difference between a clone that's clearly presented as such and one intended to deceive. I've seen both in the Marauder world. I like the tributes, but sure don't care much for the fakes.
Look what a fake cost Seinfeld recently!

What? Did Jerry get burned by a fake?
He can afford the research to know better, and any loss by failure to do so. Just sayin'...faking is never okay, but it's always BUYER beware.
