Hello everyone,

I just got my first Marauder. I am a Sales Manager at a Ford dealership. I have always said that I would buy one if we ever traded for one. We traded for one last week and I made good on my threat :) It is a black 2003 with 123k. It was bought new at my dealership and we have done all the service work since. I am the second owner. I'm thrilled! I'll get some pictures soon.

Where is the best place to buy performance parts, etc.?

Another dealership guy! I do Fleet down here in Texas so since we are Marauder brothers you're gonna give me love on dealer trades, right? Lol.

Welcome man, lots of good vendors here so you should be able to find good ways to blow your 10th checks (assuming you are still on the old school pay plan).

Welcome,

The only performance parts are headers from stainless works or kooks, Tune from member here martyo (Mo's speed shop in vendor section) rear gear ratio change to 4.10, handling from Addco and Metco sway bars, rear control arms.

Tune is best bang for buck . what sort of performance parts you thinking about?

There is a meet in Lousiville in early May..check events section

Welcome! and Congratulations!

The best mods (in my humble opinion) are:

a) Cooling Mod (I consider this a necessity more than an option).
b) Martyo Tune,
c) 4.10 gears,
d) CAI (JLT or K&N),
e) Stainless Works or Kooks headers,
f) Metco Control Arms,
g) Addco Sway bars,

And if you have the cash: Eaton or Whipple supercharger... Boost!

Wow! thanks for the welcome and information. MartyO comes up alot in my research. I have already been in contact with him by email.

I am considering stainless works catted longtubes, Stainless works catback exhaust, k&n intake, and the marty tune.

The 4.10 has been mentioned also, so I guess I need to check that out.

Sweet truck! And welcome!

Like mentioned above the annual Louisville meet is a must do. If you want to see some excellent examples of what these cars can become then book your room now!

The meet is all about the friendships of great members here. Besides last year, I’ve attended every one since 2008.. Dig up old threads from years gone by and you’ll see.

I'll need to read up on this cooling mod you speak of..

"Coolant Flow (cylinder head) – 2003-2004 DOHC heads have a flawed casting and coolant flow design on the first revision of the head that causes coolant to dead end in the back of the driver side head and causes the 7 & 8 cylinders to run hotter than the others. This results in a ticking sound that occurs when the valve guides and/or seats warp due to running too hot and the ticking itself is the sound of the valves not seating correctly and tapping because of it. The problem is more prominent on the Cobra and Mach 1 due to their high performance nature and tendency to be driven hard. This problem was also found on the 1999-2001 4.6L DOHC Mustang Cobras."

Also, here is link to a wealth of information that all new MM owners should have, including owner's manuals, technical service bulletins, specs, parts numbers, etc.

Welcome to the MODNESS!! I believe there is new company on here that makes a supercharger kit. Trilogy made the best looking kit but they stopped production. Hope to see you in Louisville.

Can't help but wonder: what the dealership gave that guy for a 2003 MM with 123K...are you allowed to say? Nice MM by the way!

It was a fair number for both parties. It’s super nice in many ways, it’s also a 16 year old mercury in many ways.

The black paint is damaged with bird droppings and automatic car washes. Front bumper needs to be painted.

Many 03 cars ,mostly black, had paint issues with clearcoat popping, causing rust etc. Ford even repainted some under warranty . It's possible your car has some of the problem. It's well documented in this forum.

As info, the search function does not work great. It's better to go to Google and search like this. Mercurymarauder.net 03 paint issues

Or whatever topic you want to search..

Better results will come up..
