Here's another Youtube clip from FordTechMakuloco. I found this one most interesting as Mo's Speed Shop changed my tailshaft housing out with the custom unit with forced tailshaft bearing lubrication.

personally, I have never seen a tailshaft housing fail this way, but my understanding is this type of failure most often happens on trucks and vans and vehicles from the salt belt.

from my limited experience with it, when the extension housing fails from exceeding critical speed with stock drive shafts, the housing fails catastrophically and breaks into at least 2 or 3 pieces.

Yep. I replaced one on my old ‘03 E250. I had never heard of one cracking and was surprised when the local dealer had them in stock as part of fleet contracts with the local utilities. He claimed it is a quite common failure.
