285/50/18 tires - back in production

Back in the day, several of us ran 285/50/18 tires until the market dried up. I think I'd scored the last set of Nitto 404s in that size a few years back.

Didn't think anyone was going to make them anymore, but Continental appears to have just done a run on their CrossContact UHP tires. They're widely available on eBay and listed as new condition. Anyway, some of us like them, some of you don't, YMMV. They fit fine on stock tires despite what the tire nerds say, and this has been the only size I've ever run since I bought the car in 2008. 51000 failure-free miles and counting.

Not sure I'd go with those 275/55s, they are almost an inch taller than the 285/50s.

I run these on widened rears wheels.

First pic is front (on the left) and rear (on the right).

Rears are 295/45-18.

Fronts are 245/45-18
