04-20-2019, 06:53 AM
UPDATE: We're are doing a mini meet on the Central Coast in and around San Luis Obispo on Saturday, June 22nd. Our itinerary will include cruising up Hiway 1 along the Pacific to Morro Bay and as far as Cayucos, then Brewery Tours at Firestone-Walker (805) and Brew House in Templeton, wine tasting/cruising the twisties in Paso Robles and grabbing lunch along the way somewhere and dinner possibly in Avila Beach or Shell Beach at sunset before heading home (or to your hotel for those coming from Sacramento/Bay, LA area or other distances. If you need a hotel it would be up to you to make those arrangements. Since it's going to be June in a very popular vacay destination you need to grab your hotel room ASAP. It will be great to meet some of you fellow California Marauder owners!
Post up with how many in your party and your requests if any for the itinerary.

The only weekend I have available in June is the 14th/15th and I am gone traveling to Reno and then south to the Mojave Road starting the 20th. I will keep track of the dates you choose and see if I can come down for it. It would be a blast!

That works best for my life and it's not Father's Day weekend. Are you good with beer and winery related tours/tasting and car cruising on the coast? That should pretty much fill our day and then we can find somewhere fun to have dinner Saturday night.

Smart woman! I quit FB cold turkey Jan 2015 and have never been happier! Oh, here's another post I missed seeing. You are smart yourself! Yup, life is so nice without the BS. Plus I find I'm a contrarian, so usually just roll eyes at the group think out there. Most people just aren't that smart. :D Too bad you're not on the left coast to join us on the 22nd of June.

Same here looking forward to going and meeting everybody be coming from LA CitySo keep checking in here. The itinerary will get pulled together little by little. But there will be scenic cruising along the Pacific (not too lengthy cuz some will have already driven a fair distance), Firestone-Walker Brewery with tasting and possibly lunch, and some other great local craft beer stops like Barrel House, then wineries out in the beautiful foothills and back roads of Paso Robles with tasting of course and end the day somewhere fun for dinner.

22nd sounds good. I can cruise down for that.
As far as an itinerary you got the right idea goin as far as breweries / wineries.. You can’t go wrong on the central coast but I feel like most of the niceities is all sight seeing.. The dunes in Pismo / Grover beach is always a big attraction. Too much stuff to see and do. Morro Bay is also pretty nice. Whatever is clever.

We can definitely do Morro Bay. If we had dune buggies Pismo would be a blast. We can definitely see the dunes (on a clear day) from near where we will probably all meet which is right off 101 between Avila Beach Dr. and Spyglass exits on Shell Beach Road at the tennis courts parking lot. But we'll work out all the details in due time. For you guys coming from Nor Cal/Bay Area, could you be down at Shell Beach by say 11 am? Figure we can start gathering between 10:30 and 11 then head over to hiway 1 to Morro Bay and north to Cayucos before taking 41 back over to Atascadero and on to Paso Robles for all the booze related activities then south on 101 down the Cuesta Grade and maybe back to the Shell Beach area for a sunset dinner for anyone who isn't in a rush to go home.

Ok! I am working on 22nd.
Where abouts are you staying so I can find hotel nearby?
Silver or Black? Looking forward to meeting you! Our place is in Shell Beach. Look for something in Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande, Shell Beach or San Luis Obispo. If you're heading back north on Sunday you could also look at Templeton and Paso Robles or Atascadero. The area has become a tourist destination so grab something soon. Let us know what you decide on.
Silver for the win!:D

You have so much great info on the cars as well as the car club so it would be great if you guys could come! You can head back to LA whenever you need to. I'm thinking we would be in Paso Robles at Firestone-Walker at around 2 pm.
Yes on 11am!
Thanks! You're also invited to possible breakfast with Mark so stay tuned for details.

Bumping....make plans to join us on June 22nd for the Central Coast mini meet. Let me know as soon as possible whether you plan to come. But it shouldn't be a problem if you decide at the last minute. We'll welcome your participation!
Stay tuned for more details about our itinerary still under development. We will have a lot to see and do in and around Shell Beach/San Luis Obispo/Paso Robles and the Pacific Coast Highway (1). There would be plenty to do if we had 3-4 days but with just one day you know it will be jam packed.:D
Ms. Denmark

Wanted to update you on preliminary plans for Saturday June 22. Spoke with Mark (N40GL) and he & Michelle are going to be available all day on 6/22. They might drive up from LA Friday night so a group breakfast with any of you early birds is a possibility. ( I'm thinking Fat Cats in Port San Luis near the pier around 8:30 or 9 am but details to be announced.)
At 10:30 am the whole group will gather at a designated meeting area, right off 101 on Shell Beach Rd in Pismo. We'll leave there at 11am to drive to Morro Bay and on up Highway 1 as far as Cambria. There's a great place for lunch right on the ocean called Moonstone Grill. Cambria is a really cute town to explore so feel free to look around.
After lunch we will drive over to Paso Robles to cruise the beautiful county roads through wine country stopping at world class vineyards for wine tasting and spectacular scenery. Then it's a short drive to Fire-Stone Walker and all things beer. The brewery complex offers a tasting room, tours and shopping for all kinds of logo gear and gifts.
We will finish off the day with dinner in the area. And for those who aren't heading right home, there are some great micro breweries like Barrel House along with one of a kind shops in nearby in Tin City. They have live music and outdoor areas where you can relax under the stars.
This is still a rough outline but I want to give you a good idea of what's in store. It seems jam packed, but if you want to spend more time in any one place, go ahead & do that and catch up with the group later on. Everyone should relax & just enjoy the day!
There's a poll in another thread. It would really help if you are able to complete it or you can pm me instead. If you have questions I'm happy to help in any way I can. Hope you'll plan to join us!

Okay, Gang. Here's the scoop, My fiance has never been to the Madonna Inn, so we're coming up Friday night to overnight there, and to have dinner in the steakhouse.
Here's where the conspiracy comes in. I made dinner reservations for 6 (Paula, me, my fiance, Paula's sister and her husband) and arranged to have a surprise birthday celebration for her there. I would love it if all of you gearheads came and joined us. If you are interested, make a reservation at the steakhouse (you can use OpenTable) and ask to be seated near/with Mark's table of 6. Once I know the count, I'll make certain they have a cake big enough for all of us.
No obligation to come, but if you do, you should meet a lot of Marauder owners around a typically Marauder owner event: eating!

We did a dry run of our mini meet on Monday. It was a lot of fun! Mark, we'll see you guys for dinner Friday night. Can't wait! Grant, sure hope you can join us! There is so much to do that it will be a jam packed day. And the weather is looking great!
On Saturday June 22 we will meet at the Madonna Inn parking lot at 10 am. Look for a Silver Birch Kenny Brown Marauder, a red Mini Cooper and my rental a bright red Toyota Corolla with black wheels. (sorry about that!) We should leave at 10:30 sharp to drive to the Pacific Coast Highway stopping in Cuyuocos for 30 minutes or so then on to wine tasting in Harmony followed by lunch in Cambria at the Moonstone Grill. Just ate there on Monday and food and ocean view were great! After lunch we drive across scenic Highway 46 with gorgeous views of Morro Bay to Paso Robles where we will make a left turn onto Vineyard Road and head through some seriously beautiful twisties to end up at Holter Ranch Vineyards and their fabulous tasting room on top of a hill will views for miles. Next stop in Paso Robles is Firestone-Walker Brewery with tasting rooms and gift shops. After that we need to be at Barrel House Brewery in Tin City by 4:15 pm, just a short drive away where we will have dinner at a great food truck, sit outside and listen to some live rock & roll. There's a creamery for ice cream, hard cider tasting and lots of other shops to look at until you're tired and ready to call it a night.
*Bring camp chairs in case we don't snag a picnic table at Barrel House. If you plan to join us in progress it would be great if you can let me know, otherwise we may decide to change up the itinerary from what I just posted and you won't find us. Please PM me if you need my cell number or to give me yours. Hope to see some local guys too!

We will try to get a start around 10:30 am heading up Highway 1 toward Morro Bay. If you arrive late we are planning to have lunch in Cambria at the Moonstone Grille over looking the Pacific, probably get up there between 12noon and 1pm after a few stops along the way.
If you are coming Friday or you think you will arrive Saturday after say... 10:15amish PM me for my cell #, and we can see where we can meet up. We will be at the Madonna for the party previously posted in post #46 Friday evening.
For those who wanted to come, but life just isn't cooperating I'm out on the left coast a couple times a year visiting family, so maybe we can put something together in the future. :)

Just making a final check on what looks to be a micro-mini meet, LOL! We're looking forward to dinner tonight at Madonna Inn Steak House at 7:30 pm. We'll be leaving from the Madonna Inn parking lot tomorrow morning at 10:30 am. Doesn't look like anyone else is coming but LA and JAM will represent and we can always try this again another time.

Well the first Central Coast Mini-Marauder meet is in the books and we had a great time!! I will post up pics of the day by the end of the week so you can see some of the places we went. We loved having N40GL and Michele who drove up from LaLa land in his Kenny Brown SB! He got lots of attention from people everywhere we went! My sister provided the zippy red Mini Cooper and Rosey and I brought up the rear in my rental Corolla. We actually had more things planned to do than time to do them. The day was beautiful, the ocean was spectacular, the beach towns were adorable, the food was amazing the roads were so much fun to drive on and the wine tasting was world class. The only thing that was missing (besides the love of my life) was more Marauders. Would have enjoyed meeting some of you local guys for sure. Rosey and I are heading home tomorrow but we'll be back on the Central Coast again one of these days. (Hopefully with Mr. Man.) So later, dudes!

We had a GREAT time with you folks, as always. We can't wait to do it again! Thanks for setting it all up.
You other people missed some great wine tasting. And really good cookies. And steaks and a birthday cake.

Sorry I wasn't able to attend, and also that I've been MIA. Broke the timing chain driving to work about 2 months ago, so, needless to say the MM is out of commission for a hot min.
