After driving my 1989 9C1 Caprice for the last 15 years, the Marauder was on my short list of “newer” cars I could stomach driving. After carefully waiting and watching, I am now the proud owner of a beautiful ‘04 with 22K miles. I cannot describe how much I already love this this car... it is an absolute pleasure to drive. After 15 years, I still got excited to drive my 9C1... I get that same feeling with the Merc and I look forward to it for years to come. This car will be very well cared for... although not a show a car, as I plan to drive and enjoy it, I fortunately have a company car that I drive to work everyday. I'll try and keep the miles low for as long as I can!

I’ve stalked mercurymarauder.net for the past 5 years... you all are a great resource and helped me make this decision. I'm happy to be part of the Marauder community. Thanks! z man

Congratulations and welcome. If it's stock get a tune from Marty O to get rid of the terrible factory transmission calibration then you'll really enjoy driving the car.

Well I kicked around the idea of selling it, but I can’t. Too many memories and the fear of regret is too strong. I bought the car from Bob Lane in 2004 (most 9C1 enthusiasts over the past 20 years have probably run across him). After two crate engines, two tranny overhauls, a great paint job, and replacing virtually every mechanical component... I just can’t part with it. So I plan to store it and drive it on nice days. I remember in the early years of driving my 9C1 that box body Caprices we’re still prevalent on the road... not so much anymore. The Marauder is already a rarity and the plethora of crown vics and grand marqs will continue to die off. So I see myself as being in the same position I was 15 years ago with my 9C1... with a rare (and getting rarer), somewhat obscure vehicle that only “car guys” can truly appreciate and differentiate from the mass produced models.

Yes that is one of the things I read about on here before I purchased my car. As such, I’ve spoken to Marty and he sent me the order form... so helpful and such a gentleman. I wanted to experience the stock shifting for a couple months and it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I’ll probably get around to ordering the tune and a K&N cai in the next couple weeks. Those are the only performance mods I plan to do for the foreseeable future. I did have a Kenwoood DD head unit installed complete with Apple CarPlay and Sirius XM. The local car stereo shop did an awesome job... double USB port where the cigarette lighter was, satellite antenna on the rear deck (inside car), and mic on the top of the A pillar. Very clean install with no cutting and everything mounted out of the way.

You need to get some original looking Marauder floormats.

Dang, the car looks to be brand new. Be sure to check out the various Marauder/Panther FB pages, if you haven't already. I noticed there are a few stations in the Panhandle that sell 93 E0 - are you close to any of them?

Thank you. There are two 91 E-free stations within five miles, but the 93 stations are pretty far.

I have the original, unused floormats in plastic. The guy I bought the car from had some light gray mats that didn’t come close to fitting properly. I bought these because they fit, are a closer color match, and the driver mat has a grommet.

I found the Redline Tuning website, but it looks like they no longer make their mats. Are there any other aftermarket sources you all recommend?

A family member in Texas found it for sale locally. The guy knew what he had and sold it for a fair price. The car originally belonged to his elderly mother.

Just installed a Marty O 93-octane tune and K&N CAI... wow!! Feels like a totally different car... I attribute 95% to the tune. I don’t plan on any other mods in the near future, but would consider headers a 4.10s eventually. Not sure the return on investment is worth it, but maybe so if the car stays NA.

IF (big emphasis) I was going to save for a supercharger, is the ADTR kit the only off the shelf option? Based on this site and others, it appears so. Would prefer a roots or twin screw, but that’s at least a few years away.

In the mean time, I’ll be enjoying the tune. I can’t think of any other 5 min upgrade that gives this kind of seat-of-pants improvement. The car now feels much more respectable... it is without a doubt now faster than my wife’s Honda Accord V-6.

Big thanks to Mo’s!!
