Rebuilding Joes wrecked DTR

I purchased guspech750 Joe's Wrecked DTR April 22 2019 and am slowly getting the car back together.

As most of you know the DTR was damaged in the front and the rear axle did not sit straight in the car anymore.
The main tub of the body did not receive any damage, so a frame swap and front cradle is going to be the easiest for me.

The donor car was a 2006 CV P71 , it was not wrecked, no previous repairs to the frame and its relatively rust free.

$247.18 for the complete frame and front aluminum suspension chunk.

The above is a fact, it takes a good amount of time and a lot of space to do a frame swap, I’ve done half a dozen or so, each one was a learning experience, good luck, don’t lose the faith and keep us posted on progress.

Are you referring to the insulation Bryan? If so, I removed all of mine off the A/C box and the firewall probably six years ago and never noticed any change at all in A/C temps. It works just as before, cools just as fast and stays cool, seriously, no difference. Fugly azz stuff was all torn over the years and looked horrible.

Hey Bryan, I wonder what the R value of that silvery garbage is...probably 0.01. One thing, you'll never have a better chance to replace that oem starter wiring harness than you do now....looking good thus far!

I did the same thing with my cutting torch setup. It works well on a dolley. I got an itch for a new toy so I got a plasma cutter. It rides on my welding cart.

Bummer. I'm down to one credit card, just acquired it recently after being denied an out of town car rental due to lack of a credit card. I use my card primarily for minor medical and dental work and typically pay it off the next month, just so I can show some positive activity on it. Got in trouble with them long ago - an experience I don't care, nor can I afford to repeat at this stage of the game. We aren't getting any younger for sure.

Agreeing with others here as this thread may very well be the most informative of the year. Thinking an uptick in 'Marauder Rescue' threads will be the norm for the foreseeable future.

Thank you. I love the setup of this house, it was actually a turbo regal buddy of mine... First time i stepped into the garage i asked if it was for sale, took 13 years before they bought a bigger house so i acquired it in 2009. Ive outgrown it sadly and saving to either add to it or move.
Its 4 large car spots under the house and 2 large car spots under the new bedroom addition. I need height for a lift, that way i can get some projects done easier.

I am just going back with DTR. Nothing fancy. Probably Hid lights painted chin spoiler and cowl hood.
If I find a wrecked 7.3 gas truck, I will toss that into it ,.. the new pushrod motor as a crate is $8100,.. If I can get the truck for 10-12k I’d use it for other reasons too.
I really want something other than the Eaton that’s on it now, a 6 speed auto or a10 is tempting

Last I checked this tread, the pictures I pasted from fb are gone. Sometime I will reupload the pictures. I’m working 65 hours a week and no time to play with the car. Yes Mebot, I’m just going back with factory red paint. Nothing fancy..
