Car Runs Hot on Highway

In the 220s-230s even saw 240 degrees....only while driving on highway. It is also 90-100 degrees right now in south Florida, but I don't recall the car running this hot b4. I burped it after the thermostat install. I let the car sit a whole day, checked the COT and topped it off. Car cools down at idle and driving around city. Only on the highway it gets into the 220s+. Water pump is new, EMP model.

It's DTR, sure you get it to hwy speeds? Check between radiator and condenser ..bugs, etc get stuck blocking air

You're right, car gets driven daily, it doesn't sit and rot. I'm not scared to drive it either. I'll wash the bugs out. Pssssssh.

Most people don't clean between that area. Blowing a hose through the front compacts them in the back. I'm not afraid to drive mine either, I have 3 vehicles, all run, all worth more than $8 I don't have to drive it everyday

Do you have the OEM Fan, shroud and air dam?

I guarantee there is fifteen years of debris between the radiator and the condenser as mentioned. The only way to actually see it/ clean it is separating the two. I did mine many years ago and it looked like a wool blanket.. This is common on these.

Yes. B4 I tear apart the front end I was just wondering some other causes for this type of symptom. Does the fan even work (supposed to function) above 80mph or so?

I've cleaned (hosed) it out b4. I'll try spraying them down again tomorrow and see how it is on the way home after work.

It will come on if called for by the temp switch or A/C switched on. Some have removed the air damn and it caused less movement of air directed into the radiator and running hotter.

Everything is all there. Radiator, condenser, fan with shroud all original. Only threw a thermostat at it so far. It's a 180, Napa. This just started happening a few weeks ago or so. That I've noticed....

Prolly that chin splitter as you altered air flow around the car instead of to the deflector underneath. Be interesting if you took it off and see if issue still there

That’s nothing! Try having a neighbor with a cottonwood tree!!

And I agree. I rinsed mine repeatedly and finally took it apart and saw I was accomplishing nothing.
