Does anyone know the production numbers of the Marauder in 2003 and 2004? If so, how many 03 Marauders were produced that are silver?

Blue03 noted recently that he was going to check with STAP on the 2004 production numbers. He will probably have them fairly soon.

I got some 2004 production numbers, current as of last week. Here goes:

3142 total
1206 Black- 1059 Charcoal, 147 light flint.
963 Red- 565 Charcoal, 398 light flint.
973 Silver- 525 Charcoal, 448 light flint.

Of the Black with Charcoal, 842 have CD changers, 873 have heated seats.
Of the Black with Flint, 105 have CD changers, 100 have heated seats.

Of the Red with Charcoal, 457 have CD changers, 505 have heated seats.
Of the Red with Flint, 293 have CD changers, 270 have heated seats.

Of the Silver with Charcoal, 422 have CD changers, 439 have heated seats.
Of the silver with Flint, 332 have CD changers, 304 have heated seats.

Not sure when the last ones are going to roll off the line, but like I said these were current numbers as of last week.

Wow, looks like a loaded '04 MM will be rather low production one including a moonroof. SO together 03 04 we are at just over 10k cars. As long as they stopped production I'm hoping for a less than 12k total for both years.

I read a while back at mm.org that June 25 was the last build day. Since the STAP tour is that day, we'll find out if that's true.

MERCDADDY,
Do you have access to that kind of detailed break down for 2003 production?

Only 3100 MM in '04. That is a discrace for FORD. Pontiac sells more AZTECs then that.

I heard very different numbers from a reliable source (Steve Babcock). I was lead to beleive that there were more 2004 models built than in 2003. He was pretty clear on that.

I'll confirm.

Though I wish our car was rousing success it is kind of cool that this car will now be so rare. Those production numbers are minuet. Looking back I guess if you’re not a tremendous success than your better off being a miserable failure. I predict it will be quite a while before this car is considered rare but at some point it will. With so many vehicles still unsold it will definitely take awhile before that happens. Also with so many cars modified there will be a time when OEM owners will have something special on your hands. On the downside I don’t think us major modified guys will be worth a dime at some point down the road. However I don’t care because I love my car, I love my mods & I plan on keeping it forever.

I wonder if there has been such a low production, low profile & car moderately priced car with this kind of cult following. I consider the cobra a mustang but I guess the lightning isn’t really an F150. Nonetheless I think we are an odd lot and that’s just fine with me. Anybody out there know how special we really are?

Honestly, I think they should have built it under the Ford name. I never thought I'd EVER and I mean EVER drive a Mercury. Prior to the Marauder, you really couldn't find anything performance at Mercury. My guess is not many people went looking. Even if they did, a stock Marauder isn't all that impressive in terms of all out performance. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice car, that's why I own one. However I feel most would agree that had the car came with 50 extra horsepower or more low end torque, say enough to at least spin the tires from a stop it might have been a different story. :)

With a Ford Dealer, a prospect Mustang GT or Cobra owner might have given the 'Ford Varient' a once over. I like the rare nature of the car, but if the vehicles do not appreciate in value over time, the realization will set in down the road that there will be fewer vendors supporting the car. Along with that will be the difficulty of finding factory Marauder parts as production has already stopped. It's not an issue now, but perhaps 3-5 years down the road it will be. Plus with the lack of interest in the car from the general population, resale value will drop even lower than it is today. I mean I bought a '03 with an original sticker of 35k for under 21k and it only had 1900 miles on it with 2.5 years of factory warranty remaining. The car has a lot of value to me, but maybe not to the next guy who has no idea what a Marauder even is.

I bought mine because there are not that many out there. I wanted something that would stay unique. By this time next year the 05 Mustang GT and Dodge Magnum that I was considering will be every where. As far as power goes I'm completely satisfied with mine. Had Ford put a smaller wheel/tire combo on the car it could easily burn them off with the ATX. I just wish they would have offered it with a 6 speed MTX :depress:

Mercdaddy, and others
Time to ask again if anyone has FINAL 2003 and 2004 production numbers by color and year. Any word on the FINAL complete run nbrs?
Inquiring minds ....
What would really be neat is to be able to identify our build sequence nbr for our individual cars (e.g., nbr 37 of 1028 DTRs produced for 2004, etc.).

Historically Mercury was always more performance than Ford. More luxury as well.
The 70's through the 90's marks the change of that, although in that period there have been performance Mercurys.
The 90s saw the S/C V6 Cougar for one example.
Ford just needs to get back to some of it's original business plan...
