I have test driven a 2003 and 2004
both great cars.
Go to the Mach 1 net, they have all the
info you need. The net is set up just
like our MM net here.
My read is they have built 10 million Mustangs....and
only 15,000 Marauders!
Gotta Love It!

I driven the mach and it's a great car. '01 Cobra/Marauder like power in a lighter car with a solid axle. Great for the strip. The automatic is just as slushy as ours, but the manual is fun if not a bit notchy though.
You can really chuck it around in the corners too...

It's one of the best buys around. On a perfect track nite I saw on run under 12.9 stock w/ 2,500 miles.
It has the Cobra brakes.

I've driven an '03 and an '04. They're great. I was very tempted to trade my MM in last month for a Competition Orange Mach 1 that was sitting at a local dealer. The drive was awesome, but I'm just too tall to comfortably fit in it. Everytime I clutched, my knee was slapping the turn signal... very annoying. Wish I was just 2" shorter.

Remount the seat back where it's comfortable.

Fast, light and small. That last one kills all interest in the car for me. I don't care to own a Cobra, Mach 1 or even a GT40 to drive around town. I'm 6'5" tall and 46 years old, anything that I have to shoehorn myself into goes into the 'when I was young' file. I'm too tired to have to work when I'm driving.
Check out who's online guys, we have some 20-25 guests right now. Everybody on best behavior.

That's the problem, I'd be too far from the shifter. I already have to reach for it. The problem with the SN95 platform is the interior setup. The seat placement, shifter location and steering column length just don't match up. It's not just me, I've heard it from MANY Ford loyalists. It's a great car, but it's not laid out correctly. Hopefully, the '05 Stang will have the interior that it deserves.

I like everything about the car, but need the family sedan so I'm waiting patiently for the time to buy a new stang or a used Viper (or steal Billys Ford GT) as a fourth car. 2009 sounds about right.

Yeah I've never driven one but I've driven a couple of manual trans and that shifter looked like you'd be reaching for 5 and 6...especially in the Cobra. I sat nicely in it though, just like I do every small car being my big 5'7...I love it, I sit perfect in a Ferrari 360 Modena and my 6'3 dad couldn't.

Not meant to hurt...meant as a compliment...you've got a KICK-A$$/Low 12 second Marauder...with more style and interior comfort than anything in the Mustang Family....and...you shop the Husky Department Sales with me at Sears....you'll be sorry for this downgrade...I'm afraid.:nono:

Yah, I'd be scared *****less and be driving 35 everywhere. If I were to win a car like that or so? I would get heavy on the gas for a few weeks until I got really used to the car. As in...there is WAY more time to have fun after...a few weeks of driving it like there's a nuclear war head in the back would be just fine.

Ahhh.... I LOVE them. My first car was a sharp mustang when i was 17. Since then I have owned a few. The one car I will own forever is my White 85 GT in my picture gallery. I have had the itch lately to get a modern Mustang, and the Mach 1 sound like the best one. I dont like the look of the 2005 at all.... will be nice owning a 10 or 11 second Mach!

I LOVE the fox-body Mach 1! Been thinking of getting one myself while the prices are down. Then I got started on my whole gee, "I-can-get-a-used-Acura NSX-for-about-the-same-money-as-a-new-Mach 1" thing. Get the Mach 1 while they last! They're selling them cheap (I've heard as low as under $25K)!

I agree w/ everything said here While a nice "go Fast" ride , I would'nt want to take a trip in one.Everytime manufactures change the look of a existing model there is a "warm up factor" I personally instantly liked the new changes especially increased leg room for the driver. All being said the Mach 1 is still a great value . And a kick A$$ machine

Actually, Mustangs are what made Lidio famous. After seeing what he can do with programming for things like the automatic trans and shift points, i cant wait to work with a mach. Unfortunately Trilogy doesnt make anything for the Mach 1, so this one would be nothing but Lidios creation!

I figured since the engine was the same maybe he was going to do is magic on it to get it work. But I knew you'd not leave it stock. Have fun with the car and I'm sure deals are to be had getting one.

My dad has a red '03. Great car and we installed a Pro 5.0 short shifter on it not too long ago. That itself made a world of difference. If you get one, make sure you get the interior upgrade package that has the better head rests. My '02 GT was so uncomfortable because there was nothing to support the back of my head, the Mach interior upgrade package corrects that. I've got some pics of the Mach with the MM and the Vette I've been wanting to post but I still need to unpack my computer :(

Driving a Mustang GT after owning a Marauder is like driving a Sunfire after having owned a Trans Am. I'm not speaking of performance, I am thinking size moreso too. The thrill would probably wear off real fast?
I do like the early 70's models though. I lost an eBaY auction not long ago on a nice original 1970 Boss 302. I have been sick ever since. Just another $3,000 or $4,000 and I could have had it!

My only problem with late model Mustangs is that they are everywhere.
Only reason I have my 84 is because you don't see too many mint condition fox body's.
To each their own though...gotta drive what makes you happy.

I agree, mustangs are everyplace, but I kept that in mind with the Mach. I picked the one color that is Mach 1 specific. That blue is very distintive compared to the darker metalic mustang blue, which goes on the basic 6 cylinder coupe, a GT, and the Cobra. I wish I had my digital camera when I went to the dealer to see the color in person, the Mach was parked between 2 blue GT's, and it was like night and day at a glance which was the Mach. So picking the Mach specific color, on top of the low Mach 1 production numbers, along with getting an automatic, will make this one semi rare to begin with. And I will never get rid of my 85 GT, which is on the rare list for fox bodies due to its options, color, Ttops, and automatic. The Mach one will scratch that sports car itch the marauder will never come close to.

Dave, it sounds like you might have already made up your mind about this, and you're looking for people to say "Yeah Dave!! Go for it Dude!!" and even if that's the case, I can relate to that, cuz I've been there before also.
But incase you're really still looking for all kinds of opinions on this, then here's mine.......
I agree w/some others here that Mustangs are everywhere. They're a dime a dozen. I see them everywhere!! But it really depends on what you want to do w/this car. Because Mustangs are so abundant in numbers, then I don't think you can expect to get the attention and enthusiastic reactions from fans and other racers at the track that you get now w/the Marauder. S/Ced Marauders are sleepers, but when people see a Mustang at the track, they expect it to be something really fast. And when it is, they tend to say, "Yeah, another fast Mustang. What else is new". So there will be no shock value at the track. That might be secondary to you, but if you think about it for a couple minutes, I'm sure you'll agree that at the track you're like some celebrity when you have a S/Ced Marauder, since nobody is expecting it to be that fast since it looks like just a sporty family car.
But as far as the Mustang body style, I agree w/Todd that the Marauder body style is much nicer. I don't like the shape of Mustangs since the late 70's. The late 60's Mustange looked waaaaaay better than the new Mustangs do, and frankly I don't see how anyone can even compare the two. But this is all simply my opinion, and that's what you've asked for Dave.
But I also am one of those who are a bit surprised to hear you mention this since you do have a really quick Marauder, and you've put a lot of work into it. You must be one of those guys who always has to be doing something to his cars, and as soon as they get it right, and all completed, their project is boring to them since there's nothing more left to do.
I'm not saying that guys like that are neccessarily wrong, but they're just different than I am. So many people have been asking me lately..."So what's next Bill?" And I look at them and say..."Why does there have to be something next? I have a great looking car that's fun to drive, and attracts all kind of attention, and runs in the low 12's. I'm satisfied, and I'm simply going to enjoy my car for a long time to come".

I love Mustangs. I have a '94 GT convertible that's a blast to drive. My Dad has an '02 GT that's even more fun. And I'd love to have a Mach 1. And an '05 GT. I just want it all!
But they're kinda like toys to me. As much as I love 'em, I can only drive 'em for short trips. Even though I'm only about 6 ft. tall - I just can't get comfortable in 'em for long trips.
But I'd love to park one next to the Marauder! Make mine red!
Dude, go for it! [but keep the Marauder].

Now that the 2005 Mustang styling is somewhat retro, I'd love to see Ford bring out a second edition of the Bullitt.
The first one was nice, but the 2005 body style greatly resembles the 67-68 Mustang. A 2005 Bullitt in the original green would be an outstanding retro car. ( I wouldn't even care if the Mach 1 outperformed it. Just the look and exhaust sound would be worth the price of ownership.)
Sidenote:
SVT dealer here in North Jersey has a number of 2004 Cobras sitting on the lot. Two of them (convert and a hardtop) have that color-shifting paint. Personally, I don't care for that color (colors?).
Another dealer has a black Mach 1 on the used car lot along with a 2003 Marauder.

Rest easy gentlemen, the Marauder isnt going anyplace. Especially when she is knocking on 11 seconds with a mod or two, just have to loose .23 seconds! I try to keep the miles down on the Marauder, but that is so hard when you walk out, and have a choice of S/C Marauder or the Durango. I end up driving the Marauder everyplace! When the opportunity presented itself, I saw the Mach as being a real nice backup to the Marauder. I am still undecided on what mods will happen to the Mach, but for starters they will be minor and keep the warrenty intact. Lidio is working on a package from kenny belle that will make one hell of a potent Mach 1, and leave the Marauder in the dust. Life is good isnt it?

A Kenne Belle Supercharger you say? Well that's a horse of a different color. Even though I still am not a fan of the modrn Mustang body style, I must say that the twin screw Supercharger is supposed to be the ultimate for power among the under-the-hood stealth S/Cers. It doesn't look as nice as the Eaton does, but it does deliver a superioe power band over both centrifugal and Rotts type blowers of the same size.

oh, that's fine. I just thought that if you planned on putting a lot of miles on it in that 2 years stretch, then I figured it would be more desireable to S/C a fresh motor. But if you likely won't even have over 10K on it by the end of two years, then it sounds like the engine will still be pretty fresh to me.
