Departures starting on Tuesday July 27th (myself and John and Gina ( Buckwheat)) with the largest number early Thurs morning. We will have another Chuck's the Saturday before we depart to work out final details. Anybody who hasn't made up their mind, please end the suspense. Also, get your Raffle tickets soon---you don't have to be there to win and I will assure you, if you win, one of us will gladly deliver your prize (unless I get lost on the way home)
Keep the good weather vibes going and join us for a great time.Registration from 5-7PM, Chuck's Grapevine (Hwy 114 X Hwy 26 across from Baylor Hosp in Target parking lot) Come on out and check the latest mods----See you there   Maury

It's 3 PM Friday and I just checked forcasts  ---scattered t-storms starting about 3 PM and continuing til evening :( --well, the SVT staff will be there rain or shine and , except for active hail, so will I. I don't know if this will affect your decision about attending, but, I have access to COVERED PARKING a couple minutes from Chuck's--sooo, if weather threatens, we can get our cars under cover. Don't come if you are the least bit uneasy about the weather--I know I wouldn't. :shake:
What do you folks think about another breakfast--lunch--dinner meeting soon--lots to discuss and plan--think about it.
Keeping my fingers crossed, Maury :bows:

WOW!!!!The weather forcast was for scattered heavy rain showers :bigcry: all afternoon and night--3 PM radar looked like a patchwork quilt with t-storms--drove up to Grapevine in light rain and found the SVT team about to call it off--after a little conversation , they said "what the heck--car paint doesn't melt in rain"--out went the traffic cones and the cars started coming and the rain stopped--SVTs, Cobras, Mach 1s, GTs Corvettes, Camaros, trucks, classics and antiques---and "The Marauders".---about 50-60 cars total. We had NINE Marauders --6 black, 2 DTR and a Silver  Everyone got their cars dried off--then another light rain shower--not enough to get you wet--but the cars :censor: Soooo, we just had a ball visiting. We had 3 Marauders that we had not seen before--Matattack (black/spoiler), Rick Wallace (DTR) and TKRauder (black)--our group just keeps on growing. We were well represented in the awards--5 , I think :help: Help me out , Dan. Congratulations, Dan and Coli, our newly weds. Logan showed up and let us drool over his new Nittos  --I can dream, can't I  I'll be posting plans for a breakfast , lunch, dinner meeting soon--so much to do, so little time til Marauderville II---right now we have the second largest group going to MV II--Illinois is first. Check the Gallery for photos .
Well, gotta get some sleep---Thanks everyone for supporting the NTMs  Maury

I like seeing the new faces. The Wallaces are are of particular interest to me. At AER I parked next to a guy with a red Saleen that told me about a friend of his in Burleson with a Marauder and a bunch of other cars. Coli reminded me on the way home and we put two and two together. Rick is the Burleson-based Marauder owner I've been on the watch for. He's been like Bigfoot to me (Ironically, Bigfoot Wallace was a famous Texas freedom fighter and Texas Ranger) How cool is that??? They are also nice people and I hope to see more of them. Of course, it should be noted that they are on the Tarrant County side of Burleson and that my claim of Johnson County's fastest Marauder will remain sound :) . He was eyeballin' Logan's Trilogy setup pretty hard. I wouldn't be surprised to see another huffer in the clan.
I noticed something else pretty cool. "The Boss" doesn't have to answer all the questions about his car anymore...I saw Maury giving a pretty good accounting of the mods. to visitors and even did a tour myself. Did you pick a spot for breakfast Cruzer?

Hey Dan! We don't want to forget another "Newby" at Chucks.....Matt ("Matattack" on the net). I am the world's worst on names. Sorry, Matt but I forgot your Last name. :shake: Please post a reply and let everyone know who you are. He lives in Allen, Tx. He is really enthusiastic about our Marauders. He owns a black '04 with an OEM spoiler. Looks really great! First time out, he won a Class Award at Chuck's. We are glad you're part of the team and we're looking forward to seeing you at the next gathering! :burnout:

Sounds like ya'll had a blast last night. Sorry LadyX and I missed it. It was raining on and off (more on than off) out here in Garland, so we just decided to skip. We also missed out on the LSPBC Show up in Plano during the day. I don't know yet whether they canceled it or not.

You guys get that breakfast/lunch/dinner set up and we'll try to make that. LadyX wants to show off her new ring as well!

Just to spread the word to Rick Wallace, Matattack and TKRauder-
Our next meeting of the Lone Star Cougar Club (our parent organization) is July 8th at John Eagle Lincoln Mercury on Lemmon Avenue in Dallas. If you liked us you'll like them. The meeting starts around 7:00 and most folks get there around 6:30. My work schedule is odd and I'm usually there before 5:00-not worth driving home and coming back. No pressure to join or anything (it's not Amway) but the discounted labor and parts covers the membership dues pretty quickly. Hope to see you all there...

If not, that's cool too. I am not by nature a social animal or a fan of "organizations". This is the only place you'll find me on the net- a lot of the fun I've had with the car has been because of the friends I've made here. Our DFW bunch is a bizarre collection of souls (y'all met Maury, right?)- Got the shiniest car? Cool but not required. Got the fastest car? Cool but not required. etc...Y'all have stumbled on to something special and you can participate as much or as little as you'd like. You're always welcome.

SATURDAY, JULY 24th is the next date for Chucks--talked to the SVT group over the week-end and they really appreciated the support last month--we accounted for 1/7 of all attendees ---not bad. Any of you guys looking for something to do this Saturday, the 17th, should go to the Chucks Cruise in Plano at Hwy. 121 and Preston Rd., southeast corner.
It's hosted by the Lone Star Performance Buick Club, and is probably the largest of all the various Chuck's cruises. Go to lspbc.org for info. This is the same cruise we had our first substantial gathering at last year.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this Saturday, but I'll definetly be at the SVT cruise on the 24th.

See ya!

Try to be there between 5:30 and 6 .If we don't, I would recommend cancelling the whole idea before we incure any more expenses. It is entirely up to you. Unfortunately I am not going to be at Chucks tomorrow after all. I
had not put it on my calendar and had totally forgot a previous promise.
If we do go ahead with the picnic please count on me for any help you
think I may be able to provide. I do have the picnic on my calendar. I am
afraid that we do not seem to be getting all the support we need for this task.
(Yeah, I'm one talk-not being there for the planning)

He'll probably flame me for this but I doubt if he's awake right now. I guess most of us know that Maury doesn't "half-azz" anything...His planning effort on this LSCC picnic has been amazing. We've got a place a menu and he swore he'd let us know before he spent any more of his own money- He's never lied to me but I feel like he might be "gracious" with the cashflow. If you're local and haven't contributed any $$$ yet please do so.
The LSCC has really embraced us (geez, they even let me serve as Vice President and I didn't know the difference betweeh an XR7 and an RX7). It's time to thank that side of the club.
Thanks!

I don't know, Sir. I know I put in $60 but I wouldn't use that as a guide. It needs to go to Maury and your next shot at him is probably 09OCT04 at the LSCC show (SYMS parking lot behind J/E) or the club meeting on the 14th.

I don't know if I'll be there or not. My car is back at the body shop because the new front clip that John-Eagle installed last fall started to sag. The energy-absorbing material underneath the bumper started to poke through the top pf the bumper and cause a "reverse dent" effect. When I got it fixed originally, they assured me it was OK not to replace the damaged material behind the bumper. Now they say that decision caused the front end to sag and I will need to pay $280 for new parts that apparently should have been done in the first place. The reverse-dent is there even when the pressure is off, but they say it will probably flatten out "in the sun". This is after I paid $5K out of pocket to have the original repair done (I have liability only insurance). I'm not too happy with J-E right now.

That seems to be the way things go in auto shops these days. I took by wife's car in because the belt assembly was making a racket when ever you took off from a stop. I had already had it worked on in Nov. and they replaced a the belt and a pulley. This time they said I need a belt and a tensioner. I reminded them them that the belt was only 6 months old and they didn't need to replace it. But it is typical of the repair business.

Damn Jawbreaker!- That's an awful story. I don't blame you a bit for being "not too happy". I guess if you're already $5K into it- $280 more isn't much to get it right. I am dubious about the reverese dent reversing "in the sun"- can they duplicate the effect with a heat gun or something before you sign off on the repair??

Is Regina's car the Audi?? We have a buddy (Rumble) who can probably take care of Audi issues or at the least point you toward the right shop. He'd never tell you (modest) but he runs the parts department of the third largest VW house in North America. If you ask him he'll tell you he's a parts guy.

That's the thing that worries me-if I accept it with the dent is still there I will have no recourse when it's still there 6 months from now. I don't mind paying for the new parts, but I want it looking perfect after what I've paid. It looks like it will be Monday at the earliest, but I might get out to Chuck's in the Mini (yes, I remembered to get it out of the trunk before I left J-E).

It's just the BFG KDW tires (as opposed to our stock KDWS's) which I bought because I couldn't find a stock rear tire, and they all needed replacing anyway. The tread pattern is wild-kind of looks like flames. I think they look wicked cool, but I was a bit taken aback when I first saw them. They're purely "summer tires", but this shouldn't be a problem in our climate. And BTW-you SHOULD be scared!!! :fire:

Astrovic has informed me that about 20 Marauders and Crown Vics will be joining us at Chucks on Saturday--let's have a big turn-out to show them that we appreciate the efforts they have made to join us--check the "Houston Area Marauders and Crown Vics Invade DFW" thread for all the details---they will be having lunch in Irving--I believe, at Dicky's BBQ between 1-2 PM--and we have been invited. I am coordinating with the SVT group for 40 parking spaces !!!!!! The weather looks good----and hot, so you won't mess up your wash job as we have in the past. I think this gathering of the Panther platforms will really get the attention of the other groups. Hope to see all of you at Chucks on Saturday. Keep the Panthers Roaring, Maury

Maury's understatement of the month.

For the non-locals:
Maury (ever the ambassador) talked the SVT Club into creating a Marauder class about two years ago. I think in the beginning, they created the class in an attempt to quiet "Ol' Man Marauder" and all this four-door foolishness.

NOW it's grown into one of the larger classes. The requirement is a minimum of 5 cars and we rotinely double (and occasionally triple) with our attendance. It's always a good time and visability to the DFW car culture is priceless. This event has sort of grown into our "home cruise" and we don't get the "Is that a police car?" "Where'd you get those wheels?" questions anymore at this cruise night. I think y'all know what I mean.:baaa:

I'm unable to express how cool it will be to have the Vics join us this Saturday.

There will be more Panthers present than a Huey Newton barbeque. That just rocks!!

just put new axles, bearings, and seals in my car @ 21000 miles
would not have known about it so early if i had not decided to put 4:10's in as there was no noise or vibration yet but when we popped the rotors there was the grease leaking out on both axles so cheap bearings from the factory is the word for the day and it is the same story for all of us
replace them now and save the axles.
lindas car will be going to the shop for inspection of this problem asap
hemlock had the same problem and cruzer is saying his is making noise also

It was great seeing all the Crown Vics and a few GM's with us. Rolling Thunder won the Marauder class and I won second place. But for me, it's kind of a hollow victory. Deep down inside, I know my car is not that much better than all the other Marauders. Yes, I can face up to the fact that the only reason I won an award was...MY NEW TIRES!!! :D
