Hi,

I posted this on the crownvic.net forums

Thanks to the forums, I only had to replace the plastic gear plugs in my window (http://i.viglink.com/?key=9c1c14180b830ad06dcc4d912 03f3065&insertId=dc50b5e2f2bd20c5&type=CD&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A1&libId=k3qhmvfe0101355z000DAqfr xt38s&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownvic .net%2Fubbthreads%2Fubbthreads .php%3Fubb%3Dshowflat%26Number %3D4038300%23Post4038300&v=1&iid=dc50b5e2f2bd20c5&opt=true&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.c om%2Fs%2Fref%3Dnb_sb_noss%3Fur l%3Dsearch-alias%253Dautomotive%26field-keywords%3Dwindow&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownvic .net%2Fubbthreads%2Fubbthreads .php%3Fubb%3Dpostlist%26Board% 3D11%26page%3D1&title=Window%20motor%20gear%20 plugs%20%7C%204.6L%20Based%20P owertrains%20%7C%20Crownvic.ne t&txt=%3Cspan%3Ewindow%3C%2Fspan %3E) motor when one of my windows (http://i.viglink.com/?key=9c1c14180b830ad06dcc4d912 03f3065&insertId=37468300d5a3da02&type=CD&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A1&libId=k3qhmvfe0101355z000DAqfr xt38s&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownvic .net%2Fubbthreads%2Fubbthreads .php%3Fubb%3Dshowflat%26Number %3D4038300%23Post4038300&v=1&iid=37468300d5a3da02&opt=true&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.c om%2Fs%2Fref%3Dnb_sb_noss%3Fur l%3Dsearch-alias%253Dautomotive%26field-keywords%3Dwindows&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownvic .net%2Fubbthreads%2Fubbthreads .php%3Fubb%3Dpostlist%26Board% 3D11%26page%3D1&title=Window%20motor%20gear%20 plugs%20%7C%204.6L%20Based%20P owertrains%20%7C%20Crownvic.ne t&txt=%3Cspan%3Ewindows%3C%2Fspa n%3E) was “hesitating” when going up. I bought window regulators (http://i.viglink.com/?key=9c1c14180b830ad06dcc4d912 03f3065&insertId=5a706f4e16769471&type=CD&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A1&libId=k3qhmvfe0101355z000DAqfr xt38s&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownvic .net%2Fubbthreads%2Fubbthreads .php%3Fubb%3Dshowflat%26Number %3D4038300%23Post4038300&v=1&iid=5a706f4e16769471&opt=true&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.c om%2Fs%2Fref%3Dsr_nr_n_22%3Ffs t%3Das%253Aoff%26rh%3Dn%253A15 684181%252Cp_89%253AACDelco%25 2Cn%253A%252115690151%252Cn%25 3A15719731%252Cn%253A309517601 1%26bbn%3D15719731%26ie%3DUTF8 %26qid%3D1503058892%26rnid%3D1 5719731%26lo%3Dautomotive&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownvic .net%2Fubbthreads%2Fubbthreads .php%3Fubb%3Dpostlist%26Board% 3D11%26page%3D1&title=Window%20motor%20gear%20 plugs%20%7C%204.6L%20Based%20P owertrains%20%7C%20Crownvic.ne t&txt=%3Cspan%3Ewindow%20%3C%2Fs pan%3E%3Cspan%3Eregulators%3C% 2Fspan%3E) just in case anyways. I did have to use sandpaper on each plug to get em to fit. I bought a bag of 100 plugs and will place the rest in the for sale section (for next to nothing:)) for those interested.

I have a 98 vic as well as an 04 sport and according to rockauto, they as well as an 04 grand marquis use the same window motors when looking at VDO and AcDelco. The regulators are the same also.

thats intetesting cuz I just redid all 4 windows on my 03 marauder and none of them had plugs.

I've ordered a few things that RockAuto listed for a specific vehicle that were incorrect. They don't control the compatibility, they list what the part manufacturer claims.

The gear plugs as they are called are inside the window motor. The motors are well built but these plastic rollers wear out and get distorted over time. Too many people toss the OEM motor when it's just the plug that needs replacing. The crown vic forums are a good source of info as most of those owners have encountered any/all problems you'll ever have with the panther platform that the Marauder shares. Good to see dRock96marquis is here too.

Ive replaced all of the plugs on all 10 of my supercoupes (89-95 thunderbird sc). Ive also changed them on several other vehicles over the years.

Having just recently redone all 4 doors on my marauder I can say without a doubt my marauder does not use any plugs or at least not any of the plugs im used to seeing on older fords.
