I ordered this from Ray a couple months ago. Primered, because of the poor track record of painted ones getting damaged in shipping. Had Team Collision paint it. There were some delays (I had other mods to do first), but it went on this weekend.

Ordered mine this AM.

Got it for under $200 shipped...and primed, not painted.

I'll be getting it painted and probably doing the badgeless trunk.

Again...great pics

Dropped mine off at the body shop yesterday. Looking at spraying it Tuesday. Owner wants my gas door Monday when I get off of work. Installation will take place first week of July when I'm on vacation due to plant shutdown for maintence and retooling.

Damn, and I sold it to Donny for $175.00 Shipping for his spoiler and under car security lights was $11.00. Would have been about $8.00 for the spoiler.

Didn't even think of it. So much going on. Finishing a term of grad school, getting the MM.

Appreciate it though. I'll be calling on Friday I believe for those mats and the centercap.

Don't know why I didn't put two and two together with you getting me this also Ray...

I had been thinking about this spoiler for my Vic and finally decided to do it too. Should look great on the CV Sport with the Marauder tips.

Looks Great! But wouldn't it be cheaper to buy it painted and just touch up any small scratches? Do they get that torn up in shipping? Just thinking it would be fairly costly to have a body shop paint it...

Thanks.

It's not scratches. It seem that since the paint is not yet cured, it is prone to marks from th buble wrap and cardboard. They can't be removed. I will not sell a painted spoiler for this reason. Ray

Well it's official boy and girls. Just got back from the body shop and picked up my Marauder attached with a new OEM spolier. Ya hoo!!!!!!!!! Boy does my ride look ten times better. Not to mention the custom gods head badge that I also attached when I got home. Had the body shop remove the old one for me, so I had less hassle. Now to work on that ugly front badge. Will probably finish up on it tonight and install tommorrow.

I went to pick up my pre-painted black spoiler today from a local dealer. I opened it up at the parts counter to take a look at the finish. I was not impressed. I brought it out to my car to see how the finish would compare against my car...less impressed. I took it over to the dealers body shop and ask them about the finish...they were not impressed.

They felt the swirl marks were in the primer, and the paint and clear coat didn't even come close to smoothing out the marks underneath. The paint also had an orange peel bumpy finish to it. They said they could wet sand it, but were concerned with not knowing how much paint thickness they had to work with. I said I could order the primered version for about $30-35 less, and wondered how much it would be to paint it to match the finish on my car...$90 plus materials...ouch! :depress:

Ultimately the body shop recommended bringing it back to the parts counter and re-ordering it. He said they have had good luck (paint quality-wise) with factory spoilers for the Mustang and Taurus. I can definitely understand Ray's hesitation to selling pre-painted ones through the mail. That is why I wanted to get one locally so that I could refuse it and re-order if necessary without dealing with the shipping hassle. I will argue that it may not be the way it is packaged that damages the finish. The finish was consistantly bad across the entire surface, not just on the ends where the buble wrap is. I think it just a crappy paint job from whoever is making the spoilers for Ford.

I did notice that the spoiler mold was marked as being made in the UK. Don't the Brit's have any higher quality standards that that?

Hopefully the next one is better... Someone please tell me that they have gotten a factory painted spoiler that was acceptable and matched (at least pretty close) the factory finish on the car! :bigcry:

Sorry Todd...My dealer ordered 3 spoilers for me and all of them came in damaged. I finally bit the bullet and had it painted. I suggest you order a primed one and go to your local body shop and have it painted.
You will be happier in the long run.

After seeing the rather poor paint quality that came on the factory spoiler, the dealership that sold me my MM gave up and painted and mounted the spoiler on the car at their expense.

I still have this for sale. It is listed under "Parts for Sale".

It was never permanently installed, used a double sided tape to install & didn't like the look.
I have the hardware & template (never used).
Purchased primered for low $200's.
Professional paint was $150.
Paint & spoiler are perfect., no disappointments.

I will take a loss, make offer.

The former owner of my blue Marauder has his installed by the dealer. The paint quality seems find and it looks great.

I really like the way that the spoiler changes the look of the Panther rear. It whispers performance in the way that I want my car to communicate.

Best,

Dan

don't you dare!

my dad cheaped out on a paint job and this was the result:

http://www.jerzeylimo.com/supercharged/1992-thundervics/clear4.jpg

the whole car was spray painted and it looked like crap! It looked so bad with the spray painted spoiler and the THUNDER badging that I even made it on www.beaterz.com "Grandpa forgot what he's driving!" lol

After getting over the fear of drilling a perfectly good trunk lid, I threw caution to the wind and broke out the Black and decker. The install took about a hour and a half...due to me being extra carful...you know measure twice cut one mentality...and it hit it right on the first time. A most beautiful look...Should have come from the factory like this. It gives my Rauder even more stand out factor.

Way to go, Big House! Makes you feel pretty good, doesn't it?

That's about how long my first one took, too...

BTW, the proper expression is: "I cut it three times, and it's STILL too short!"

I bought my spoiler pre-painted (black) from the local LM dealer and it looked pretty good...I have no complaints....I guess that I got lucky....?

You can't go wrong with the factory spoiler...it should have come from the factory.
